What's new

I see the error of my ways, but I'm having a hard time changing.

MK9 is the first game that I took 100% serious, and wanted to be unstoppable at. I've played every game except for Armageddon, but I was never great at them. I played DBZ Budakia 3 kind of tough back before Katrina, and WWE games. With those games I always had the mindset of I don't just want to win... I want to win & look good doing it. For example in wrestling I would NEVER end the match if I didn't end it with a finisher. Same as with DBZ. I had to style on my opponent. With games like MK9 and Injustice I cant play like that because I lose everytime. I know I'm not supposed to but I not go for the easy win. I'll try to do like a 80% Batman combo to finish it off when I can just do small combos and play smart the whole match. I want to start getting into tournaments real soon so I know I have to let go of those flashy type wins. It's just hard to.

Secondly I can also admit that I don't have the play to win mentality 100% of the time. I don't do things that I consider cheap, and I don't zone. Even with Deathstroke I don't zone because I don't want to be looked at as playing cheap. I have this mental block about having respectable wins. I'm an online warrior of course... I'm not really asking for advice... Just opinions on if this is happening to anyone else right now. I lose a bunch of matches for the two reasons I just talked about.

It's easy to tunnel vision in this game and kind of lose track on how to improve.

Use the tools your character has to the best of your ability. Don't hold back, because your opponent sure won't be.

ShadowBeatz (you know why I'm tagging you, you sick yellow freak! )

Don't feel bad about using scumbag tactics/tools to get you that win. My personal opinion isn't an excuse for losing despite the way it sounds: When I go to a tournament, I'm paying for the experience. I want to meet the members that make up this dysfunctional family and hopefully get to play you guys too. However, I am ALWAYS trying my hardest, it just turns out that it may not be good enough. I find that the less I focus on winning, the better I play. If one thing goes wrong in a match...you just gotta brush it off otherwise it will follow you for the rest of it.

I don't know about the flashy part. My characters are already so full of swag with their regular bnb's I see no reason to deviate from the norm. However I could show you a video of me losing to GGA Han because I tried being flashy with an Ermac double jk teleport combo and dropping it. Never again. :p

Wait, am I tagged because I use Cyrax or because I don't use his resets?

That and because I thought you'd have some input on "being flashy". :p

You use his resets once in a blue moon, don't lie! The urge to take away 80% of someone's life is sometimes just too strong mang!

I will say, when someone compliments my Cyrax because they haven't seen anyone else do the set-ups or combos that I do with him, that makes me feel good. Better than it does when I beat someone with his stupid resets

Of course you do. I was bullshitting earlier too. Next set we fight I'll give you Batman. I wont hold back at all. Sorry about that. I'm just always doing too much at one time.
Lol its all good. I was hoping you would pick bats and woop my ass.

Just for the record I didnt count those as Ws.
