It seams i can play against any character and know how to beat them or have a chance to but when it comes to staff poking ground smashing flying dicks i just get owned. He seams to me underrated his mixups are really good i cant do anything! any tips for beating the Dick?

With NW it becomes knowing his frame data and whats low and whats overhead. A few random notes:

His d1 in staff is advantage on block, just keep blocking them. Its frustrating, but they do next to no damage on block.

Staff stance MB ground smash is hella advantage on block. I think he can check you with another one for free. Keep blocking.

Flying grayson can be ducked and full combo punished. Gotta take advantage of that.

Look for animations. He has a staff move where he turns his body and slowly brings it over his head...its an overhead.

He has a string where he jabs you in the gut, then in the shins. Second hit is a low.

Staff spin MB is hella advantage. Some characters can crouch the last hit. If yours cant, block the follow up.

If he cancels d1 or the low string on block into ground smash, i believe you can interrupt for full combo with a d1.

He dominates air to airs. Be careful with that.

Experiment around. Hes really good, but not unbeatable.

Well Im a NW player and a very pocky one at that so let me tell you how to avoid the poking...
if NW is in Staff stance dont jump unless ur character has a very high jump arc or air projectile cause chances are if your opponent is good enouth he will do FG on reacton to get you off the air if you opponent is in escrima they can also do it on reaction but chaging into staff adds a couple of frames but still ull probably get hit... so avoid jumping if you can... against up close and personnal poking you need to know where NW strings have holes or gaps... i ca tell you right now that S1,F1 into Ground Spark you can jab before the ground Spark if your jab is decent most characters are... if you think they are going to do any other type of mix up like jumping 2 or Jump back1 you can B3MB on reaction as well jus tneed to be looking for it... if you dont want to waste the meter try D2 it seems to work but dont abuse it if a NW catchs you maching D2 you will be punished Hard and by Hard i mean around 42% combos...

Haven't tested with all characters but with grundy you can avoid the ground smash with a forward dash and he has a ton of recovery. Grundy can basically get in on him from full screen by blocked a smash and dashing the second. I assume everybody can do this except maybe lantern with his garbage mobility. However if he does a mb ground smash the second hit will track but you can usually block it on reaction. If you're about 2/3 of the screen away or closer you can typically punish him if you have a good dash.

Are you serious? How did I not know this already, can't wait. I lost a round or two to a NW earlier, fucked up my streak, this will help.
Yea. I havent fully explored all options, check what your character can do. With Black Adam i just D2 as he flies over my head. With Green Arrow I D1 ice arrow as he gets to the other side of me. Everyone can do something though. :) dont let dat dick let fly all over you, make him shoot over your head.

You can actually just d2 flying grayson if you react fast enough. Its good in air to airs but has shit priority

And you have to keep in mind most of nightwings strings/MB specials are advantage. MB staff spin and MB shock are super advantages, his 1f1 string is like plus 11 on block, we all know about his d1 already. He can be really tricky to fight

I just practiced it. If he flying dicks me and lands anywhere within 4 feet on either side i will just d12 MB tiara his flying dick if its in my face for full combo yayyyy im so happy now!!!!

I can only beat NW when there is no lag. if there is ANY lag im done for. so dumb. Why does online suck?

The only way to beat him is with Superman, then hes SUPER easy to beat for me, but WW has a hard time ey. The NWs dont even have to be very good, just halfway decent and i have a hard time with them, same with GL... which is why WW will never be as good as Superman.

It helps to know that Flying Grayson is -3 on block, so you can stop him from his d1 follow up and full combo him if he tries it without respecting his frame data. However... the moment you have to D1 is not visually obvious. Don't wait until the attack is nearing the end of his landing animation. Hit the D1 right after about the middle of it. It's weird. Practice against it in the training by recording Nightwing doing a flying grayson immediately into d1.

Get to the point where your D1 beats his every time, and connect it to a launcher. I think everyone needs to be able to do this on reaction as part of the NW matchup. It's like being ready to punish a blocked Reptile Dash on reaction. It's not the only important thing, but if you can't react properly to it when it happens, you're behind in the match.

I can do this normally... just not with lag ey. Gotta be quick against NW.
