How much does ease of use affect you character choice?

You don't got the cash, You don't get the ass
As stated above, I will admit that it does impact me in some way.
It won't stop me from playing a character that I want to play, but it will sway me on a character I am on the fence about.
How about you?

Too old for this Shit
Ease of use has 0% influence on who I pick. I try to pick a character closest to my game style, elusive, quick, all over the screen guy.. If none really exist... A character usually calls out to me (original series that is).. Pre-exsisting titles: i am an extreme character loyalist - If its Marvel: I'm Spider-man, If its DC: I'm Batman or related villain (this case Harley), if its SF: I'm Vega/Claw.
Edit: tier also plays 0% on my choice.. Regardless of where they end up.

Character Loyalty > tier/ease of use

Generally I have steps.

1.Deos I like the actual design of the character?
2.Does the character have something that suits me?
3.Does the character have a decent enough learning curve?
4.Does the character fare well against others?

If I meet 3 of em, Ill learn the character.

Im an armor/heavy damage type guy. Currently I learned Bane/BA/Grundy in that order.

Get your guns on. Sheriff is back.
I only care if I find a character fun.

If I like their look and persona I'll play them period. Lucked out in KoF since that meant I was all over EX Kyo, Iori, Andy and bunch of other viable dudes...sucked ass in Marvel as I'm die hard Iron Fist. Blaz Blue and Guilty Gear I'd play whoever and the same goes for Street Fighter and MK.

I have folks I go all in for and will play no matter what , but generally I just play whoever I enjoy the combos and playstyle for. In some cases they are easy dudes like EX Kyo, but in other cases they are tricky dudes like MODOK that I grew into enjoying.

I play whats fun. If an easy character is fun it affects me I guess.

(For Injustice) I pick a bunch of characters I like, see if I like how they play, and see if they're any good. The better the character does not determine who I play, but can add to my opinion of who I will learn.

For example, I like Bane as a character, so I tried him out. I didn't continue with him not because he's a low tier character, but just because I don't like his play style.

Dropping Combos like a MotherFucker!
In MK9 I went with Sub-Zero because of ease-of-use. That was the first fighting game I ever took seriously, and linking combos with a freeze allowed me more time to think and react.

In Injustice I chose Nightwing prior to the game being released because I like the character. Truthfully I find him a pain in the ass to play as, but I'm putting the time into him and learning how to play a completely different way.

Ease of use definitely affects me..

If a character is too easy to use, I get bored of them quickly.... Like Superman for example, I use him because he's brain dead top tier but I don't put any time into him because I get so bored every time I use him for kasuals or in training mode.

Nightwing on the other hand is top, but he has the different stances and mix ups to mess with.

Tired, But Strong
Ease of use irt certain elements of execution is a factor for me, disorder-related issues make my ability to build elaborate muscle memory less than desirable. A long sequence is more problematic than precision (although that can be a bit of a pain, it's certainly less of a dealbreaker), so I tend to avoid games altogether where the combos reach a certain length. Sometimes I do simpler combos if I find the damage differential insignificant, but I often drop characters that give me this sort of issue chronically.

Eternal Champion of Justice
If I find myself dropping a lot of combos or just missing small execution nuances and it costing me rounds I definitely reevaluate my choice of character at that point. Comfortability is always a factor. Luckily for me though I do like the typical main characters in games like superman, ryu, liu kang all who happen to have lower execution barriers areso execution is usually only an issue when I'm trying out some crazy secondary. Well that and in tekken since mishimas are the hardest characterrs in the game to use.Honestly though I have yet to see anything in this game that I couldn't do after like 5 mins in training room.

Just some guy searching for a main
If I like the character I will learn them no matter what. If I don't like them I wont bother ever using them for anything(like Kabal in mk9).

Unfortunately a lot.
I wanted to main Nightwing at the beginning, but he is too complicated for me at the moment, since I'm very new to fighting games.

I switched to Doomsday for now, since he has fairly short and simple combos. Great beginner character IMO. Obviously I'm not playing the character to his full extend with the corner came / oki stuff, but I feel more comfortable than with a character like Nightwing, or even Deathstroke, who in my eyes is easy to pick up, but very, very hard to master. At least for a beginner. Decent keep away and keep away spamming are two different things.

I usually choose three characters from the beginning of the game and remain with them until the end. it doesn't matter if a character is easy to use or not If i enjoy playing as him . In mk9 i played Kung Lao , Reptile and Stryker . In SSF4 i played Dhalsim , Guile and Rufus . Injustice will be Green Arrow , Deathstroke and Green Lantern . I started with Green Lanter because i loved that movie . Green Arrow , my favourite and Deathstroke because it looks great and moves great.

Aww shit <REDACTED DUE TO FEELINGS> its Shapzam
Somewhat of a choice.

I hate characters who have traits that are too... choicy. I like people who have all their tools, all the time and clear goals.

Someone like nightwing and wonderwoman and to an extent green arrow are not for me because I will never be confident enough to use staff/shield in the right circumstance and it will just weigh down on my confidence. "Oh I lost because I didn't use this" or "I lost because I used this in the wrong time".

Others who rely on context sensitive traits and strategies, like Batman and his bats, and Hawkgirl and her wings for the same reasons.

I like your aquaman, sinestros, black adams and green lanterns.

They can be complex, so long as the complexity is one tier. Rather than two tiers or more.

you better make room in that boat, cuz we're both in it. (sinesbro and aquaguy are my mains)

Truth, justice and the American way.
Every time I fight a Batman online, I ask myself why I bother with Nightwing.

Seriously, all you need to do is ji2 cross up with Batman. The input lag will do the rest and you'll get 42% free.

lol... Nightwing isn't as easy but he's klearly good (and still easier than others)... Plus I don't think he has much advantage (if any) off of J2.

Can't decide on a character
For me, ease of use considers both execution and practical extent of character depth. I'll be the first to admit that I'm put off by a certain level if execution in order to play a character to a standard effectiveness: if I -must- learn a number of very tight links, complex inputs unsuited for a pad or combo lengths that even I can't wrap my head around in order to play a character well, I will find them intimidating to learn and pick up rather than rewarding, leaving me most likely avoiding them. Having played MvC3 for a long time now, however, combo length is far less of an issue than it used to be. Developing intuition with a character's tools is something for me to consider as well, and that is more to do with how comfortable I am with a character as opposed to the extent of their strategies and tactics. If effective use of their tools eventually comes naturally to me, however vast or limited their depth is, then I will be highly likely to stick with them.

Bird woman!
None, really. Though I do like having to input a lot of, well, inputs really fast cause it makes me hype and all, I usually go for the character I like the most/the underdog.

Lex Luthor II

Lord of Lightning
I like complex, but there is such a thing as TOO complex for Online play... unfortunately. Some of the characters rely on more advanced combos that are very spotty pulling off online in many connections.

Sometimes an overly complex character can be too much of a bother to really learn. I loved the idea of Carl and his attack marionette in BlazBlue, but couldn't perform even the simplest of combos with the pair. Just not coordinated enough.

Mostly I pick characters that speak to me for one reason or another, I have to like the character to give a shit.

For MK9 it was whoever I found interesting. I ended up maining Mileena, Noob and Quan. In injustice, I started with Aquaman because I loved the character. Just turns out he's top 10 material. I also play the Joker and Harley because I like the relationship they have and the character's themselves. And I seem to be naturally drawn towards lower tier characters in fighting games for whatever reason.

Also Grundy because GRUNDY SMASH
