How do you pull off dashes between combos consistently?

I'm trying to see if I can change my mental model and re-program my reflexes somehow. Every time I do a combo that requires a dash after the first string, 50% of the time I'm doing the wrong string because it thinks I want f4 instead of 4 or b4 or whatever. I've turned off input shortcuts, and I know this is a skill issue, so I'm not here to say that the game is bugged or it's buffering weird, I'm just curious if there's a sort of "rhythm" or approach people use to get those quick dashes and have their follow-up string still come out right.

For an example of what I'm talking about, in Kenshi's Kombo 5, after you hit his b12, you need to dash and follow it up with 4, db3amp, and half the time I'm doing f4 and it's making me sad.

Just watch for visual clues when the animation is ending, youre getting f4 instead 4 coz youre pressing it to fast/before the animation of dash ended.

There is no easy way to get it, you need muscle memory for it but watching or even timing animation in your head will help you. Thou i think visual clues like i said are the easiest way to start. Practice is your friend... and a lot of it.

As far as when to start the dash, do you start doing the dash input while the first string is still coming out, or do you wait for the first string animation to be totally complete before you start dashing?

dont know the specifics of this combo but im going to say in general.

if you are getting f4 instead of standing 4,that would mean you are still holding forward while inputting 4 and so you get f4.
you dont need to wait for the dash to be over before you press 4,you can dash cancle ant any point in time once the dash has started,meaning you can do micro dash 4, mid dash 4,deep dash 4.

practice just executing a micro dash standing 4 so you get used to inpputing a dash and releasing forwrd fast so that your finger does not linger on the forward button(lol this was not intentional i swear).After that you should be able to incorporate which ever version of the dash cancle is neccessary for your combo and not get f4 but 4

It's more of a timing when to press, you can cancel at any time but more sensitive combos req you to hit oponnent at specific time/height or you will miss it or miss ender coz he wasn't high enough in the air.

Practice dashing after doing the normal or special you want to dash after.

for this scenario, it sounds like you are hitting it too fast, but with any combo, bnb/kombo challenge, just test the part that you are having issue with the most. so for this, just keep doing b12, xx 4 EXdb4 until you get that portion right, and when you do, then try the full thing...practice practice practice. Make it make sense FOR YOU.
