I have an Xbox One and most MK tournaments are on playstation 4. Is the HoriPad a controller you guys would recommend for someone who uses predominately Xbox One controllers, should I just get a converter for my Xbox One Controller?

Get a convertor since you are comfortable using an xbone controller

Like most pads, you would have to adapt to the new feel of the pad. If you're really in love with the Xbone pad then just get a converter. Only switch if you dislike it and have trouble executing moves or feel uncomfortable.

you will need the PS4 version of the hori pad, I rate it 100% but what ever your comfortable with really

I was just wondering if there was someone who has used both and if there was a noticeable difference between the two that would favor one or the other
