Haven't Been On This Sight (Or Played A Fighting Game) in 3 Years...

What's up TYM?!

First off let me just start off by stating that even though I literally just created this account yesterday I'm very
familiar with this site from years ago back when MK9 first came out, but man everything feels the same yet so different at the same time. Since I'm essentially a noob all over again and hardly recognize anybody from back then, I guess I'll reintroduce myself to everybody with a little background check. ;)

Back in 2011, I was around 16 years old(God damn time fly's!) and casual scrub at fighting games that mainly played MK for the lore and characters. I was so hype for the game because I've pretty much been in love with it since I first played the original MK's on my brother's Sega Genesis and Playstation, and MK Deception and Deadly Alliance are probably my most played games on my PS2. Shit, I loved MK Deception so much it was the only game I ever bought twice for two different systems that there was nothing wrong with initially. (Dat Godlike Chess Kombat tho)

Anyways long story short, I made it up in my mind that this was going to be the first fighting game I took serious competitively which meant eventually I would have to play online which was something I hadn't done before in a fighting game and as you guessed it *spoiler alert* I got my ass handed to me... A LOT. So as the losses kept piling up, the salt levels continued to rise and even the occasional rage mail bashing other players for "spamming" (God, I was such a scrub ) I eventually had enough and decided one day, "Okay, fuck this shit, I'm going to get better!"

Through my Google searches on the interwebz I came across several YouTube videos that gave me short but no long-term progression until I came across the holy grail. I stumbled upon a tournament called PowerUp 2011, which at the time was very new to me because I didn't know events like EVO even existed let alone other majors, regionals and locals. It was through this that I leaned about this site and main stay players like REO, Tom Brady, PL, THTB and the like. I pretty much repeated the same process I'm doing so right by introducing myself to the site, got familiar with the members at the time, learned the basics and fundamentals of the game, participated in XBL KOTH lobbies, online casuals through shitty netcode, etc. Pretty much after that, to quote the title of a Drake album, nothing was the same.

I leveled up so much because of this site that before online randoms who would usually beat me before became somewhat easy-pickings. I became so confident in my play that I decided and had my mind set that I was going to attend my first tournament ever until a horrific tragedy happened in my family that left me depressed and emo for quite some time and caused me to give up video games for awhile. Which is how I missed out on Injustice's lifespan.

But now thankfully, years later I decided to rejoin the site after Mortal Kombat X's announcement, although I was hesitant at first and dare I say almost pathetically scared to for many months so I just lurked from the shadows until the moment felt right. lol

I honestly can't wait to go through the grind of relearning how to play fighting games all over again and form new friendships with you guys. There shall be much free wins and salt inducing moments for you to enjoy on this low level noob. Can't wait... :DOGE

tl;dr I'm just a nobody from a while back that has came back to this site to git gud for MKX, see you guys April 14th

Tell me, do you bleed?
Hi there!

I'm newer than you, though I have been kind of active since I came here. We have something in common: MK9 was the first game I took competitively, and I also did it because I got my ass kicked: that encouraged me to train more.

I'm sorry for your tragedy; I hope you're doing good now, and I hope you have a great time here (and I'm pretty sure you'll do, because MKX looks really promising).

May your return be something like this:

Thanks bro! :)
I'm doing much better in life right now actually, and I can't wait to get my hands on MKX. I haven't been this excited for a game in quite some time, and I missed coming this site everyday for tech to level up. I just hope that this time around I'll be lucky enough to find a scene and participate in tournaments while finishing up my next couple semesters of school.
