Getting into the swing of things...

I posted this on MKU, but I thought I'd join up here as well for another source of info.
I've been a longtime fan of MK (despite not owning a console of my own) and recently I've been taking the dive into the wider MK and fighting game community. I've admired the series mostly from a distance until now - I've played at arcades in the past, played on my buddies' game system, played with emulators on my PC, but never really got into the nitty-gritty of the game or followed any competitive development. Being a PC gamer first and foremost, FPS in particular get the most of my attention. While I always respected and acknowledged fighting games on the whole, I never had a true opportunity to get into them.

Now, with MK9's recent PC port, my interest in the genre and allure to MK has again spiked. I've been studying different characters, combos, fighting game terms, etc. to get a feel for what the game is like at higher levels. Though I understand that much of the MK community has moved to Injustice, which is too bad for me, as I don't have a console to play it on. I've been considering getting one, if only to play fighting games on the side, when I'm not occupied by the PC.

Hopefully, I'll learn more about the mechanics and intricacies of the genre while immersing myself in the MK lore that I was always fond of.

Welcome. There are some people here who play MK on PC so just ask around. We don't want MK to die but some people are too lazy to play two different games.

P.S MB B3 is the answer to everything in Injustice in case you ever get that game.

I've got MK9 on Steam; been playing it for about a week. I've been getting my head around the mechanics and feel of the game, though playing a fighting game on a keyboard does feel a bit unnatural. I haven't played a game of the genre in a while, so I'm re-learning a lot. I was considering getting an arcade stick as well. I do plan to play fighting games on consoles, should I get one in the near future, but I'm wondering how good of an investment it would be if I stuck to PC.

MK9 on console is kinda dead cuz most people moved onto Injustice. Maybe wait until MK10?

If you plan to just play MK, I recommend using a pad instead of an arcade stick, but it's all preference. And since you already play on PC, then getting MK for PC isn't a bad investment. A lot of people have stopped playing MK on consoles because of how bad the connection is, but we're just holding off until MK10

He said he already has MK9 on PC.

Aristo People said the PC version lags less online than on console too.

Thanks!
I'll keep on practicing MK9 on my PC and get used to it before I move on to other games. It's a bit early to make an informed decision about this, but if I were to buy a PS arcade stick for use with the game on my PC, would it be better to wait until after PS4 is released and they start making PS4 sticks, or could I just buy a PS3 stick now, enjoy that for a while, and then consider adapters for the PS4? It's a bit of a puzzler, but I'd really like to get into arcade sticks and use them both on my PC and on a console, should I buy one in the future, or in case a friend owns one and we play offline.
