General strategy of MK9 for a newcomer?

Hey guys i haven't played MK9 online yet as i have just come from SF just been in practice mode and want to get my combos, strategy & metagame down before i go online so i don't embarrass myself & look like a complete noob.

So like whats the strategy in MK9 do i Rushdown? Jump alot? Bait? Footsies? Zone?

Just need a general idea of how MK9 is meant to be played any type of help would be appreciated cheers.

It's different depending on what character you choose.

Johnny Cage plays alot different than Noob Saibot for example.

Test some characters and then pick a character you like.

Then visit that particular section (for that character) for more in-depth strategy
