Explain something about the ending to me...

So apparently, all 32 endings (excluding guest characters) are kanon in MK11, just branching off into their own timeline.

In MK1, Liu Kang unites the other 31 against Shang Tsung's 1 timeline. So while Liu Kang should have around a thousand kombatants, Shang Tsung should only have around 30 or so, the "Dark" versions of each character. So where do all these almagamation characters come from?

Thanks a lot.

The MK1 ending does not actually make sense with the endings of MK11 because many of them simply cannot have ended from the split-point discussed in MK1.

The long and short of it is that the MK1 story is really badly written and the mechanics of everything involved for multiverse & time stuff is clearly way beyond the capability of the writer to actually use well.

The 'original' timeline was on a constant loop; when Liu Kang 'won', that began all the branching paths.

Shang knew of Liu Kang's timeline because it was the closest to the first branching path (Liu Kang beating Kronika).

The others are branching paths upon branching paths; forks on the timeline road that breaks into multiple other forks.
