Equivalents in other games of the genre

This idea sprung up initially because (a) Im looking to maybe get at least somewhat seriously into a couple other games of the genre and (b) I wanted to see what chars would be the best to transition to from my main Kitana, alt Ermac, and backup skarlet.

Then I realized I could just make an identical thread for all the character forums so that ppl could chime in on which chars are similar to play as in other games (or are "parallels")compared to a certain char and what not.

So this is for the sake of advice to those transitioning from the char to another game, and for the sake of just sparking some hopefully interesting discussion on character likenesses across different titles.

Just to clarify, an example might be: Sheeva is to MK what Tager is BBCS2, or ZZangief in SF...etc and then of course expand on why you think so.

Obviously whatever character forum this thread is in will be the character being likened/compared to others from other games.

Really I don't like these sorts of threads, no offense. You really can't say "this character is like that character of another game" because it takes away from the big differences.

Advice to new people getting into a game? Learn said character of said game that you like and don't try to compare characters to another game because it will only influence your mindset into incorrect thinking.
Also if your looking to learn a new character just look up videos and mess around with them in training mode and ladder to see if you like how they feel.

I know what you mean but I was hoping to see just approximations, somewhat close parallels, chars that even just sorta felt the same when you controlled them. There's gotta be such a thing for Sindel...a projectile heavy char with normals/combos that are throw back opps to maintain her zoning game?

I make references to venom sometimes when i play her. Her pressure is no where near his, but tk fireballs in their face is still pretty fun. She also feels alot like yoshi. Except -10 in the armor division. My first reason for mainin her, was that levi-cancel feels just like wavedashing and zoning.

I think Mileena is a bit like Juri(SSF4). But more in terms of storyline and attitude than in actual play-style.

Alisa in Tekken is similar as she is sort of a zoner/spacer that uses a ton of low pokes

I wanna say Trish in MvC and Actually Juri in SF ... she just has zoning on lockdown with those variations of Fireballs similarly to Sindel ... If only Sindel had Juri's dive-kicks ... *sigh*
