There is a combo thread and guide that should have everything you need. Typically lv1 isn't used for much - lv2 and 3 have a huge range of uses.
The ai usually isn't a good combo guide in itself, it does some weird shit that's not only insanely difficult, but usually not even close to optimal. Check her combo thread and guide and start there. =)
