Does armor negate first hit bonus?

Weird thing just happened, my friend and I were playing Rain (me) v Cyrax (him) and at the start of the match he en bombed me, while I en round housed. I took the damage, but armor obviously kept me going and I cancelled it and hit him with a 45% kombo. The weird thing is though, I got the first hit bonus. Is this known? A glitch? New?

It is not new, and I don't think it's a glitch...it happens all the time

im guessing because armor takes the damage but it doesnt acknowledge a player being hit so no first hit bonus for your buddy..
