Does a Sega Saturn USB pad work with this game?

Was just about to get some original Saturn pads modded to be USB for my PS3 but before I do that I want to know if you can really play it with this game. I guess once you start an offline game you can't exit out unless you use a second controller. Any other drawbacks that I'm not immediately seeing?

I picked up a 360 version at gamestop (although it had WWE on it) but hey it was only $20.
As you can see it's similar to a Saturn pad in design, but a little better in my opinion because the buttons are all the same size. The d pad is responsive and works well for me. It's a little beefier which I like because I have big hands, and the PS3 version is wireless.

Anyway, it's something to consider if you're not dead set on using an actual Saturn controller. It's not exactly the same, but it has a similar feel and is quite a good pad.
