Question Do i understand Smoke's playstyle?

I've been considering smoke since he's easy to pick up but hard to master but his playstyle worries me.

Is smoke supposed to heavily rely on his pokes to connect normals?how is he supposed to be played?Keep away trying to get a random bomb to connect while antizoning?rush down?

Would he suit me?So far the only character i'm good with is subzero and smoke would eliminate all my bad matchups.

sorry if this has been mentioned somewhere,i've only got like a minute and thought i'd make a quick thread.

.... they mostly come at night. Mostly.
hum, Smoke is a great anti-zoner, perhaps the best in the game, his teleport and shake give Smoke very good defensive weapon ....

His smoke away/forward, is pretty good for "mind games", intimidation factor

his smoke bomb is pretty good, one of the best projectiles, due the fact is a guaranteed juggle starter, once it hits

I see Smoke as "half-rushdown", meaning he works pretty good dominating the "half section of the screen" but with great capacity to recover from pressure and zoning against him, meaning he is not to be played standing still on the end of screen, waiting for projectiles, and he is not , necessary, totally depending of corner gameplay, so, he can keep a good game playing from the "middle" screen, if necessary

There are Smoke specialists in the forum, that can give better opinion than mine, let's see

He can be played whichever way you feel is most appropriate in any given matchup. Sometimes you'll want to play runaway, and punish any of your opponent's mistakes. Other times, you'll want to rushdown. Personally, I believe he's more rushdown orientated than anything. I used to solely play runaway when the game was released, and while I still did well, I find myself doing much better rushing down because not only does Smoke have the ability to be on your opponent's face at ALL times, but he has so many techniques to confuse the hell out of them.

Smoke is more about out-maneuvering your opponent than anything else. His rushdown game is ok, not the best but I'm constantly trying new things to improve his pressure game. Smoke really shines with pokes and footsies, Though. When looked at as a whole, Smoke has arguably the best pokes in the game.

d4 into smoke bomb is pretty god like... great thing about smoke's pokes... is that you can cancel them all into smoke bomb... so when you are in some1's face and they block your poke... trying to get out (d1, s2, d4, d3) they will get caught... and go into a full combo! also... imo it is easier to get the reset from a raw smoke bomb

also if they jump out and you are keeping pressure w/ d1 and s2... they will likely go into juggle state... and you can follow up w/ d1 into smoke bomb
