DLC character inchoseable.

I was seeking from topic about it but without effect.
I have purchased DLC character Rain but when it comes to online often I cant chose him on character select screen.
I dont know what it may cause it or how i can handle this situation.
Do my opponent have to posses this character too? Do he needs to have compatibility pack?
This is kind of stupid situation I paid for dlc character but Im often incapable of choosing him online.
In offline mode he works flawlessly.

the other player most likely doesn't have the necessary compatibility pack. in this situation, there's nothing you can do other than search for another player and hope they have the required dlc, etc.

Thanks for answer. Thats ugly that this is even passible to lock DLC characters with not downloading compatibility pack.
There is any way to prevent situation when I'm forced to play with another character? I mean can I somehow check if enemy have right stuff for me to play against him with Rain or its always risk no matter what online mode I play and what I do?
How many % of players online lacks those compatibility packs?
Moment ago I started to think that this may be caused by fact that i havent unlocked Cyber sub-zero.

unfortunately, no, there is no way to know beforehand if a person you're matched against will have all the dlc/compat packs. so if you do join a match where rain is unusable, then you can simply just quit and leave if rain is your solely used character.

no clue as to how many people don't have the packs or characters but i have played quite a few people who have only downloaded 1 or 2 dlc characters and not others (in turn also not downloading compatibility packs for the ones they didn't download)

and no, it has nothing to do with cyber sub not being unlocked.

Sorry for abusing you with questions but I cant know it until im on character select screen righ? And in that moment I still can just simply quit by presing Circle (PS3 version)? Even in ladder?I wander if Netherrealm studios will do something about it due to fact how long ago last patch was released but current situation is absurdal. I understand allowing for no skins if someone not wishes to see them/ waste mb on HDD. But characters? Eh life. They released game sold most of planned copies and dont care for players anymore since most of those who could be interested already have it and cant return it to shop with words : developer dont makes via patches important improvements and im disappointed. Its so like after politician is chosen he very fast forgets about electors and wont remember about them until few months before next election.
About maining Rain im very beginning with MK9 I have it for alost year but my total playtime is probably around mounth (mostly as Scorpion) I dont yet know if Rain is going to be one of my mains (althrough its rather probably ) I wander whith who Ill pair him with in Tag matches. But now I gone a bit offtopic.

Methot with leaving from character selection screen works but have one flaw which is auto-lose in statistics. Is there any other less painful way to check if I can play against somebody with given character and wont lose match with a walkover?
