Discussing teams(I'm not sure how to name this)

What factors do you consider when you make a team? Because as far as I know most people have teams consisting of characters with different playstyles to cover each other's backs.

But don't you think focusing on one playstyle but having different tools is a better option due to the comfort zone factor?

For example: I have an offensive-footsie oriented playstyle, if I mained Jax, according to what most people would do , I should have Kenshi and Kabal as back-ups.

But in my particular way of making teams, I'd be picking up Cage and Kung Lao.

TL;DR - Isn't it better to make a 3-7 MU to a 5-5 that you're comfortable with than a 6-4 that makes you play flowchart-ish?

some people pick teams based on match-up coverage. some pick teams based on different play styles. some have a team of same play styles. some just make a team of the characters they most enjoy playing with.

it depends what you're looking for. the first option is most common for tourney players because they'll do whatever it takes to win obviously.
