Digital Foundry Comments on Rumours of a Mid-Generation Console Hardware Upgrade

Apparently there are rumours going around that we'll soon see a PlayStation 5 Pro and a new Xbox. Digital Foundry comments on this possibility below:

In brief, they don't think this is likely (though it's not impossible). This is due to:

• the fact that the current generation still has not properly started. We're still very much in a cross-gen transition.
• The costs of hardware are not coming down in this economy, so enhanced consoles will be significantly more expensive than the high end consoles today.

It's a very interesting video, and they quote some comments from Andrew Goossen, Xbox System Architect. They also discuss why Microsoft has released the Xbox Series S.

At best, they expect we may see "slim" versions of the current generations come out a bit down the road.
