Hey i'm a huge fan of Kitana after i got my behind handed to me online by her.. smh. I used Ermac and couldnt keep the girl off of me.. she's obviously the "in-your-face" kind of fighter, and im just wondering how to get a little better at applying suffocating pressure on your opponent. i often try and be "aggressive" and i end up getting hit a lot more..

As a quick sidenote, kitana is actually very very good at keep away tactics. Her air boost or whatever gets her in and out of melee range almost instantly, and it's very hard to knock her out of it safely. Her ground fans and instant air fan will keep you at bay for a while as you try to approach, all the while making chip damage.

ANYWAY
Start mashing that block button. You've got to learn to identify first of all whether your actions are safe as far as aggression goes, or unsafe. When you're closing the distance on opponents with projectiles, dash block all friggen day. Hit your dash, and block almost immediately after you scoot forward. When you are finally within range to attack, BE CAREFUL. Don't just jump him, wail one normal out on their block, and then stand there waiting to get hit. Either move again, attack again, or GTFO. If you let out a block string on someones block, finish the normal and do low jab, crossover. Uppercut their response, back off and throw a projectile. Theres different things you can do but you gotta make sure you aren't just hitting their block and then waiting to get punched. Also, you gotta control your spacing. Keep 1/4ths screen distance from your opponent at all times if you aren't attacking, or zoning. Reason being is it gives you options. You're close enough to react to their mistake, but far enough that they need to move forward to get to you. If they jump in, back dash and punish their attack. If they jump back, do whatever advancing move your char may have, or simply dash forward and put your block up.

I just ran out of time cause i gotta work, but most important note. IF YOU AREN'T ADJUSTING YOUR SPACING, OR IN THE MIDDLE OF AN ATTACK, HAVE YOUR BLOCK UP. You shouldn't be taking little hits here and there just cause you don't wanna press your block button. If you're going on offense, you gotta put up your block after your riskier moves to try and make sure youre safe, otherwise you're gonna eat 112's all day or whatever.
