Choosing a main HELP!

Hi all,

OK, here's my problem. I've been playing sense the game came out and still haven't found a character I'm totally comfortable with. I mained Grundy when the game launched and switched to Cyborg, and messed around with Raven, but I still feel "OFF".

I also keep switching from SFxT Fight Pad to SFxT Fight Stick and that could be the problem, but I'm not sure. It seems that all the characters have some kind of either odd jump arc or a move I can't use properly. I tried to play Lobo but his command grab input (and Cyborg's) drives me crazy.

I hate playing OP top tier characters but it seems like very few besides Superman, Death Stroke, Green Lantern and Black Adam are any good, or have to many bad match-ups.

Anyone have any advice? BTW I used to main T.Hawk in SSF4AE and di rather well with him, and I play SFxT also (Yoshimitsu+Ogre). I also used to play Sheeva in MK9.

How about Aquaman, Nightwing, or Batman. Or if you don't like them, Catwoman or Ares. Honestly a lot of characters are viable.. It's just that people have to do the work of figuring them out.

It's also too early to consider characters OP -- anyone you think is over the top, might end up being reduced to a lower spot as the game evolves. Patches, new tech and setups, and experience will all contribute to changing the character landscape.

Looking at who you use to play with in Other games.. I can say you might end up a Shazam player Art

Right now, there are no set tiers in this game, all speculation. Just because a char is "OP top tier" (which none of those chars exist right now anyway), that doesn't mean that's not the char that will fit your personal style. I tend to play Bane and Superman a lot, cause I like those chars and they are fun to me, regardless of other peoples opinions on them. I would maybe go into training mode w/each char, look at their tools. Are you a zoner type of player? Rushdown? Passive aggressive? I can tell you all day who to play but it doesn't mean that char fits your style

Bane would be a good choice as it resembles T.Hawk the most, he has the same floaty jump, and the same damage output with combination of Venom usage. He has great footsies, a similar dash, and he has a great command throw. They both aren't extremely combo heavy and both rely more on the mix up portion rather than the raw damage. Doomsday would also work since you played Sheeva, as they have somewhat a similar play style. In terms of SFxT, Joker (Yoshi) or Ares (Ogre) might feel at home.

Since you like grapplers and Yoshimitsu and Ogre.. I can tell Command Grabs and Mixup is more of your playstyle..If that's the case then Shazam is perfect for you

Doomsday, Aquaman, Black Adam, and Sinestro.

I was in the same boat as you were. I knew I wanted to main Sinestro so he was top priority.

I then went on to try Doomsday, Aquaman, Batman, Superman, Black Adam, Shazam, Lobo, Grundy, Bane, and Deathstroke.

The ones that fit my play style were Sinestro and Aquaman so I stuck with them.

I recently started dabbling with Black Adam and love his move set so I will incorporate him into my game.

I think if every one is played right I think you can have a solid all around player that can hold his/her own against any other character.
