Character breakdowns?

Does anyone know if there's a centralized place where we can get info about what each character's gameplan/tools are? I'm surprised at how opaque the game is about telling you what the characters' differences are and what their specials do. Like, if I'm Reptile and I hit my invisibility, I EX it and ostensibly it does the same thing, but the game doesn't want to tell me what the difference is for some reason. I remember hearing from Stephanie that if I build up dark rings as Ashrah, I get a benefit when I'm in light mode, but how can I understand that from the actual game itself? In MK11 they had the character tutorials which, while a little wonky, at least outlined what the character's philosophy is supposed to be. Here it's just like "oh, go try things and guess" lol.

Am I just dumb? Is there somewhere in the game I missed where it tells you these things?

That info will gradually get fleshed out in the character forums.
Man, I love that TYM exists so I can find this, but it's crazy to me that somebody can pick up MK1, try a character's special, be like "whoa, what did that do?" and the game's just like shrug. MK is so casual focused, it's surprising to me that there's nowhere in the game that tells you why you should choose one character over another, even if you're searching for that info.

Yeah I’m totally with you. And to be honest a lot of NRS games are like this, like when you hit the expand for more data button for special moves it will give you no information on the properties of it.

right now I have the very strong (and possibly/hopefully wrong) impression that enhancing a lot of special moves serves absolutely no purpose, other than a 2% damage increase.

It's just mind boggling to me. It seems like they put so much thought into MK1 making each character have their own special "thing" that it's weird they couldn't even just write a little blurb you can access somewhere for each special and character attribute. At least in MK11 they had the character tutorials. And yeah, I never understood why sometimes I pull up the frame data menu and it's basically just a bunch of "N/A" with no additional context.

What you're saying with EX makes sense, except for things like the Reptile invisibility. I guess it's possible you go invisible more quickly? If that's true, it's not enough to make a material difference imo, the whole mechanics around going invisible are so slow that a quarter second quicker makes basically no difference. But regardless, there's no reason we should be sitting around this forum guessing. Just tell me what happens lol.

I'm not trying to rage about this, it's just so puzzling that such a low hanging fruit that would make a massive UX difference isn't there.
