Button Map/Display Correlation Issue (All over the place)

I've read about similar examples, but specifically in my case challenge 33 is all sorts of screwed up regarding button map/display correlation.

The default control setup is:

[KK][BP][KK]
[FP][KK][BK]
[KK][FK][KK]

My control setup is:

[KK][BK][KK]
[BP][KK][FK]
[KK][FP][KK]

Now, on default the mission works as expected, hit the button that shows up, bam, checkmark. On my setup, at first I thought it was asking me to hit whichever of my buttons correspond to the default layout (B for FK which displays as A on screen), but it's actually doing the complete reverse rotation of the face buttons, like so:

[KK][FP][KK]
[FK][KK][BP]
[KK][BK][KK]

So when the screen shows A(FK), I have to hit X, even though my mapped FK button is B.

NRS really needs to completely overhaul the button mapping and button display mechanics they have going in this game, because this will probably get confusing before long.
 
Yeah, that was the first challenge that I skipped. I'm glad they thought of the skipping feature.

But for real, the button mappings make no freaking sense in this game. Why do you need to make 4 different button configurations in the main menu, and then pick one in the fight? Why does each different account signed on have its own set of 4 button configs? Where is the logic behind this!?
