Black Canary - (Whiff) Jump 1/2/3 ~ Canary Drop (DB2)

Hey guys,

Just wanted to throw this up here as I know most Canary players have used J2 ~ DB2 (Canary Drop) on their opponents, but not sure how many actually know you can purposely whiff J2 into a DB2 to add to the mind games (and possibly protect yourself in the process)...


Video only shows J2 but you can also whiff J1/J3 ~ DB2 as well..

Generally you can't special cancel whiffed moves. Is this a bug or just a random exception?

Being able to whiff an air normal into a special is so fucking stupid.

You can't whiff a grounded normal into a special, so why can you in the air?

hehe. Hopefully you limit this to use only against opponents with bad D2s. Aquaman would shut that down right quick :-P

But I agree - cancelled specials from whiffed normals in the air is dumb. It was dumb when Kung Lao was doing it, and it's still dumb now

You guys do know that it's not a cancel right? What's happening is, the DB2 is coming out after the recovery frames of the whiffed J2/J3/J1 is done. Notice how early the J2 comes out in the vid.... it's not like you can do a J2 and as soon as you feel like it, you DB2 anywhere and cancel the jumping attack.

#This! ... This was exactly why the word "cancel" was never mentioned in my OP... lol

its so hard for me to link back 3 after canary drop...any tips? i tried just spamming back 3 till it eventually hits but its so inconsistent

To clarify, do you mean linking B3 into Canary Drop? If so, try pressing 3 the earliest time of the jump that you can... Also make sure you input the Canary Drop while her legs are still in the split position.

sorry no i mean when you do a meter burned canary drop and then a back 3 while the opponent is in the bounce animation to continue the combo. its a bit inconsistent for me to land it im wondering if you can point out a visual aid maybe

ALL characters can do that....since I1 to MKX to I2...what's the big deal all of a sudden...
