Best way to stream laptop to tv?

My laptop is pretty old and doesn't have an hdmi port, so I was wondering if anyone had some tips on how to stream it onto a tv? I plan on using it for gaming (mame, fightcade, steam) mostly. Without an hdmi port I think a vga cable would be my best bet...any other options???

VGA with a 3.5mm to whatever your tv has for audio is your only choice.
Any sort of wireless video options have a killer delay.
