These rules for the MK9 and TTT2 tournaments will be in effect for the entirety of the tourney:
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Bracket matches will be in 2/3 format, with 3/5 to be applied to all matches for the Top 8. Double elimination is used. SOLO MODE IS NOT ALLOWED. Participants may consist of single players or pairs for tag play.
Mortal Kombat 9
Bracket matches will all be conducted in 2/3 format, except for the Winner's/Loser's/Grand Finals, each of which will be 3/5. Double elimination applies. The character Kratos is banned from tournament play, along with the Chamber of the Flame arena (this portion is not included on the FaceBook page, but has been upheld as a consistent rule for all MK tournaments).
The venue fee is $5, as is the fee for each game (you may choose to compete in one selection or both, though you will be charged $10 if you play both games in addition to the venue fee). If the turnout should exceed at least twenty players, Insomnia will contribute an extra dollar to the prize pot for each entrant (the maximum being $50). Everyone is welcome to watch at no charge.
It is encouraged that you bring your own controller or fight stick to aid in the progress of the tournament. Each tournament by Insomnia is limited to the first 32 paid entrants, but the more that play, the more they pay, so reach out to your friends and see if they're down! All paid entrants will be treated to free pizzas plus drinks by Pizza Zone!
To sign up for Saturday's tournament, pay a visit to the store during their business hours or pre-register via phone call at (281) 440-1405. If you choose to register via credit card, a $0.50 fee is applied.
Casual play begins at 6:00 P.M. CST with tournament play following an hour later. During the course of the tournament, stations may become available again for casual play, which will run until midnight.
Stream will be provided by Cat at http://www.twitch.tv/kombathouston so don't forget to tune in when it happens!
