Anyone in the Ottawa-Gatineau area?

Title says it all. I know there are some player on SRK but no one really seems to take this thing seriously so I figured I'd check over here too.

Anyway, just hoping on some replies and stuff.

I'm out in west Ottawa and am always down for offline gatherings. How else am I going to motivate myself to improve my game?

Oh, Ottawa west isn't such a long way away from me, that's where I go for most of the SRK gathers for Marvel. You know anyone else who plays?

Shame you're on 360, could always practice laggy kombat during weekdays with you and then get offline stuff going when we have free time.

Heh, well, you don't know just how far west I am, but I'm at least always game for driving into town in any case. But, yeah, I'm pretty short on fighting game contacts. You at least know any people playing this?

I know there's a few, they posted on SRK but I haven't had time to get back to them. There's also a bunch of oldschool UMK3 players (myself, Contra and PLA Soldier from SRK are the most knowledgeable about UMK3 in Ottawa's fighter community iirc).

Maybe I should start showing up at SRK get-togethers then, if only to justify setting up a console for Mk9. It seems there's at least some interest over there. I've been meaning to find out where I'm really at these days on a lot of games. Shoot me a PM here or on SRK (same username) if anything starts to come together.

Where are you located?

I can host myself, but I'm in the Gatineau area, so you have to be willing to come to my place. Otherwise, I can go to places but I don't have a car so I have to know when/where in advance so I can bus it (30 mins to get to downtown Ottawa)

I don't have a car either, I don't mind heading down to Gatineau area as long as there are some OC Transpo bus routes nearby or if anyone could possibly give a ride lol.

Well, the easiest way to get down to my place is to take any OC Transpo to Rideau and transfer (transfers/bus cards work on both OC and STO but tickets are exclusive, keep that in mind) there to the 77 Les Promenades line and drop off at the Promenades station, then I'm a 10-ish minutes walk from there, on the same street but further down the road. Last I clocked from when I went to a gather in Barrhaven, it takes the 77 around 20-25 minutes to get from Rideau to Les Promenades.

If anyone has a more central place to play at tho (anywhere around the downtown or where other players are closer to), that would be really great. There are also the weekly gathers at Johnny's (Glebe) or Myles's (Barrhaven) place for the SRK crew that we could use to set up a station at, but there won't be any this week due to most of the Ottawa crew going to Montreal for a big tournament.

I drive and am willing to pick up people on my way but dont wanna be driving all over town, gas is expensive as you know.
I live Near Plateau Aylmer but I do work all over town and know my way around.
As for meeting, I would like to get to know the people I'm gonna be going to their place or vice versa. I dont wanna be the 28 year old wierdo visiting a little kid at their parents house... you know what I mean.

As for setting up @ Johnny's or Myles's... forgive my ignorance are these like comic stores or something?

I'm up for anything Mon-Wen after work hours as I work doubles in the weekend.

I also dont mind to host at my place once we get along.

Haha, yeah don't worry I understand that perfectly. I'm 26 myself and I can vouch for most of the guys from SRK being at least in University.

I've got a weird schedule myself due to working the night shift but I don't mind hosting on weekday evenings from 4 to 8 (shift starts at 9PM, Sun-Thur). Friday or Saturday nights I can host from 4 to midnight. Heck, if you want you could come over this week even.

The only caveat being that I'm openly in a same-sex relationship (my username and psn should be a dead giveaway), tho you guys don't have to worry about me being a flaming homo, I'm pretty gruff. I drink beer, I watch hockey and I'm not adverse to looking like a bear coming straight out of hibernation half the time.

Lin-kuei edit: I totally forgot to mention, Myles and Johnny are two of the guys on shoryuken.com from Ottawa, they're the two most frequent hosts in the area. The vast majority of players play Capcom games (MvC3, SF4) but so long as we bring our own consoles we can usually get a tv going for whatever game we bring.

Double post but I figured it'd be better to post again than to edit.

Abo can't make it to my place this evening, so I'm going to report hosting to tomorrow (same time, 4PM to 8 PM). Would any of you guys be up for games on Friday as well? I don't think anyone from the SRK crew is hosting but I can either open up my apartment for 4-5 people or travel, either way works for me.

I work weekdays from morning to evening till about 5:30 (4:30 earliest), so weekends are the best time for me. Friday's also cool with me but mind you I work all the way in the west in Kanata, so I probably won't be able to make it until about halfway through.

I have to pass through north Kanata to get anywhere and have a car, so we might be able to arrange for me to pick you up and drive into Gatineau, Shiizu, though you're probably still going to want to figure out the buses to get home to the east-end.

If any of you are still down for this afternoon/evening, I'm game. My schedule's kind of all over the place in general, however. The only regular thing is that I'm not going to have a free Tuesday for awhile, and I usually get Sundays off. I'll PM you guys, and we'll see if we can't coordinate something.
