Anyone Else Hesitant About This?

I don't know about you guys, but of the new characters, I am EXTREMELY hesitant to main any of them because who knows if they will make into the next game. I really don't want to put a lot of time into a character, only to have them not show up again. I see how the people who mained lost characters feel. It sucks to put time into a character and then lose them and have to learn another character.

No, because my favorite character is Scorpion. And he will always be there.

But I feel you, it would mainly depend on who would be a fan favorite, or how the story goes.

You can't base your choice off of who will be in the next game. Just main the character that best suits your play style. I wouldn't start thinking about the next game before this game is even released that just seems silly.

I get what you're saying, but this isn't a roleplaying game. I suggest that you pick characters based on your playstyle, and not just stick with them because of their looks. There are many characters with a similar playstyle, and there always will be.

I understand what you mean, I don't see Tremor or D'Vorah making it into any future games.

But that's no reason to not use them for the next few years. Even if they did make it into the next game, there's no guarantee they'd play the same either.

It doesn't really matter to me. If my main character doesn't make it into the next iteration of said game, I'll just have to pick someone else. =)

It doesn't matter really because NRS style is to do a soft reset in terms of fighting mechanics. Sure, characters keep their signature moves, but don't play entirely the same from game to game.

This isn't like Tekken or Guilty Gear where the legacy curve matters.

I dunno, I think there's point in enjoying the moment while it lasts. And most of the time there will be someone at least similar enough where you won't be crippled if they take your character out. That being said, if they don't add X character, then it might help to expand as a player to step outside of the comfort zone and try something new. All depends on what you look for in the game, I suppose. I wouldn't understand as of yet because I've always had a hard time settling on one character.

This is not Tekken of Sf4 dude. Characters change from game to game in Mk games. That's the beauty of Nrs games.

Everyone on the roster has the same chance to make it... Especially in a passing the torch type game....

But you can't pick someone based on if they will be around in a game like 5 years out... You may not be around then..

Yeah, I see what some of you mean, but still, it would suck to lose a character you play. Luckily for me, I didn't have a main in MK9, I played multiple characters and the closest main for me would maybe be Kung Lao. I did play Kabal but I knew he likely wouldn't make it due to people complaining about him at tournaments and his story purpose. I really like how Kenshi and Takeda are looking. There are so many that I'm interested in. Ugh, they sure have made the decision to choose a main a little harder this time around. I'm getting back into MK after having not played it in years so my combo game is a little weak now. If any other noobs want to spar, add me. I'm on PS4 and will be on Xbox One shortly.
