Anti-Air Question

I have question for you guys. I've heard that D1 can stand as an anti-air but I'm never able to do it. As an exemple when someone is crossing me up what must I do. Can i block when they crossed me up and then do D1 ?

That might be a character-specific thing. For example, Kitana's D1 is the longest in the game and is used to shut down a rush. With proper spacing, a D1 could be used as anti-air I suppose but in a crossup situation, you can't get space. I think it's more the standing 1 that's used for anti-air.

You can not block and then d1 when they cross you up. You have to d1 them out of the air. D1 AA is all about timing and practice. I am pretty good at AA D1 with Kitana but with Smoke I pretty much suck at it right now.

Depends on the character I think, Like Beerguy said he can do it with Kitana but not smoke. I can do it with Sonya but not Cage.

A friend of mine uses Cyrax and has started using D1 (with good effect) for people crossing him up.

I would assume though that D1's are different for some characters. For instance, not everyone has a good AA jab like Cage or Smoke.

Funny enough, I find Barakas D4 isn't bad for stopping cross ups. He has quite long reach and gets himself quite flat to the ground.

Yup D1 works better with some characters than others, and is hard to catch a character who is jumping on your back.

I've recently conditioning myself to stop this kind of jumps with neutral jump punchs, until now is working fine.
