A Pushblock Discussion.

Let's have one.

Does Pushblock belong in the game?

"Imagine fighting a rushdown character getting shot at by projectiles: they pushblocking the opponent's projectile for free, then somehow move a half screen closer to their opponent, just because they have meter" is what some might say.

"Yeah, but imagine having a game where we actually have to deal with Shazam's down 1 and down 2 going into command grabs, or Joker having ridiculous near infinite mixups off of OTG, teeth, b1, 3 at the wall"
is what others may say.

Some think the Pushblock setups for Joker, Lex, Cyborg, and Manhunter were absolutely awesome--
some, especially after the Sinestro crisis, didn't want any stuff like that in the game, and many began to think that the pushblock mechanic may have been a late addition to the game that needs refinement-
As armor cancels beat pushblock too, for some reason.

It's evident that pushblock is becoming used way more frequently as the game continues being played-- as not having to deal with pressure which may lead to mixups is pretty advantageous.

What do you all think of the pushblock mechanic? Should it return in the event of Injustice 2, (definitely not Mortal Kombat) Or is Pushblock not built for the current state of NRS games?

What is going on guys, Ya Boi Zyphox here.
push block is a good mechanic and takes resources, it has a counter in armored moves, like bounce cancels, and they took out push block combos, so i don't see a big deal about this or why it wouldn't be included in MK9.

Does pushblock really make you want to bounce cancel though? You're spending two bars for not guaranteed damage. The flexibility to pushblock any hit inside pressure and the flexibility to bounce cancel most hits in a string (I say this because I'm sure there's some exception that someone would point out) makes the likelihood of these two colliding in game kinda slim if you ask me. They could just continue to block and you just wasted two bars of meter. After the fiasco about how we're all hoarding resources, that's a pretty big investment.

I mean 2 bars is a bit, but the end result is still you being put at frame advantage (unless you're Bane or Catwoman). The option has its uses, and it's more along the lines of a read option to have. I think once the pushblock game gets figured out more, bounce cancels will become more popular as people spot points that people favor the option of pushblocking.

But that's the thing though: I see it as being so flexible its beyond anything more than a guess. The person doesn't need to always pushblock, and certainly not the same point in whatever string. But I guess we'll see how things turn out down the road.
