2020-12-11 Patch Notes


Nothing too surprising from what the community had already figured out in the interim.

Here are the most notable changes:
  • Mileena - Jump Attacks now have the same cancel properties & frame advantage on Block & Flawless Block as other characters
  • Rambo - Jump Attacks now have the same cancel properties & frame advantage on Block & Flawless Block as other characters
  • Rain - Jump Attacks & Special Moves when executed during Hydro Boost & Hydro Boost Amplify now do slightly less damage and have a larger 6 frame window to Flawless Block
  • RoboCop - Fixed an issue with Flamethrower allowing opponent to be thrown during its hit reaction
  • Scorpion - Fixed an issue with Demon Breath allowing opponent to be thrown during its hit reaction
  • Sheeva - Adjusted the projectiles of Flame Barrage (Dragon Stance) to now startup 3 frames apart and it can once again be projectile parried
  • Sub-Zero - Jump Attacks & (Air) Polar Axe when executed during Rising Ice Amplify now do slightly less damage

Dragon Stance really makes me think that laziness is the reason dead kustom moves didn’t get touched, and less to do with balance concerns. Why balance Shang’s Exploding Corpse Drop (damage nerfed slightly) and Cassie’s Bitchin Bubble (active frames reduced), and not touch the clearly broken Dragon Stance?

Upon Ultimate’s release it should have been 2 slots, chip and normal damage reduced, and the cancel made meter dependent, just to begin with.

Does this imply that sound effects are created dynamically based on where people get hit and with what? I always figured each move just had a couple of canned effects played at random on hit and block.

Yeah, this move is so dumb cause of its properties. It costs 1 slot, no meter required, ridiculous chip damage, ridiculous normal damage. When I see shit like this, I honestly think there are drunk trolls working at NRS.

I think it's just more evidence that they made customs legal, and said, "We'll let it go as is (except for Shang and Kitana, they need to be nerfed), and we'll let the players test it for us before we do any balancing."

Well they did deem certain moves too strong and kept them out of customs. Even nerfed certain moves like Shang's Corpse Drop damage as you mentioned. Yet, Dragon Stance was OK the way it was and wasn't banned. I mean, who makes these decisions and based on what fucking logic lol. It doesn't take "field-testing" the move to decide whether its too strong the way it is.
 
Someone please Edit the OP thread and add all patch notes, having "the most notable ones" on a thread titled "patch notes" it's not really healthy.

Nor to decide on buffing a weak move. I mean how hard is it to see that SubZero’s Cold Shoulder (the one that replaces slide and is just worse) needs a buff? I mean you’re replacing his signature slide, this move better have some redeeming quality right? Right? They could have made it armor break or ignore projectiles or anything.

I don’t get why more people don’t seem to be bothered by how unfinished the kustom system is.
 
Agree Johnny cage stunt double???? Worthless move that takes 2 spots. There are only like 4 moves in each character that warrant being selected the rest are just worthless! No reason to pick them. Come on make all moves viable i get this would be a huge undertaking but would add so much depth and life span to the game.
