Which console should be the tournament standard for Injustice 2?

PS4 - Street Fighter, King of Fighters, Guilty Gear, BlazBlue, Skullgirls

Xbone - Killer Instinct

Both - MKX

I think that about settles it in most TO minds. PS4 seems to be a bit smaller of a footprint and has no power brick as well.

PCs just don't work on that big of a scale, I've only seen one local do this and it was at an already established PC esports building. I've never heard of a regional or major doing PCs for a fighting game, someone correct me if I missed it.

I like XBOX, but not Microsoft. This is reason enough for me to reject it as long as Microsoft exists.

I don't think that the PS4 controller is terrible at all. I wouldn't use it, if I found a game that the PS4 controller wouldn't fit me well.

Yeah, the ps4 pads register moves wrong if you push buttons hard or doing diagonal moves for a long period of time. I have four ps4 controllers because of fighting games and normally the ps4 joystick register moves wrong aswell.

It kinda sucks.

^^^ This is totally true and most of the pc companys would donate their products or provide loaners just for advertisement purposes

@ChatterBox said it earlier, it's very rare for TO's to push for PC but I'd argue the infrastructure is there, you can take a venue designed for say CS GO or a moba and turn it into a fighting game stage so easily.
I will say this, at this point in time, PS4 and PC been receiving fighting games at the same time but you have games like MKX that perform way worse and are even broken at launch compared to consoles.
So yeah I can see why a TO would go for PS4 and just not wanna deal with PC.

I'm not sure if NRS games are just criminally difficult to mod or what, but the Injustice 1 (and MKX) pc mod game was super weak. There were a couple good ones, but nothing like the deluge of mods SF always gets. Kind of a bummer.

I am sure if it was the tournament standard, the audience would get bigger and more people would be getting involved in it.

I know I would. I love modding but since nobody else can see it, it's kinda pointless to me. Imagine my skin being used on stream in front of hundreds of people. That would be tight. Even it was a local.

well, yeah, but SF has never needed that to get a crazy mod scene. There's more "fixed hair" ken mods than official ken costumes, and we know there's as many if not more people pissed off about NRS' classics and man faces than hair complainers. Even KI has a pretty sad face mod scene.

I have to just assume NRS' texture / model options are as bag of cats as their game code is. Shame, really.

ps4 please so people can leave their controller tied to the console and put it in rest mode while the world is watching

seriously, it's early..I hope there'll be crossplay between xbone and pc..if so hands down for that version

but I guess mkx already estabilished the ps4 standard so we're stuck

Because they aren't as practical for running large FGC style tournaments. Most big PC game tournaments, you only really need 10 to 12 setups, 5-6 for each team depending on the game. Compare to something like Evo where you'd need a magnitude more than that.

Then there's the fact that setting up on PC isn't as smooth as on console. It'e generally easier to just plug things in and play on console, compared to PC where you have to deal with drivers, as well as XInput vs DirectInput shenanigans.

Finally, big money doesn't just come from PC manufacturers anymore. In fact, as eSports grows, the bigger money coming in is from companies that traditionally aren't related to, or are only tangentially related to gaming. For example, Red Bull is one of the biggest spenders in terms of eSports sponsorships, sponsoring not just players and teams, but even events (they certainly sponsored my event, Manila Cup, last year). If eSports continues to grow at the rate that it has, then pretty soon we'll start to see even more "mainstream" sponsors.
