I would love to try Last Blade 2, because I have never heard or encountered it in my entire life.

SSI and SSV Special are my favorites.

I wish my Ouya could play this one...

I love SS2 but you seriously tripping if you think SSVSP isn't at least as good as it
its better than all post SS2 games for sure, but what killed that game for me, its the clutch meter and a few of the things that came along.

The clutch meter could be fueled by exchanging the power meter for zetsumei ougis, the more fuel, more clutch a character would have, so when you're fucked with your health matching the clutch marker, you could just wait the slightest opening and trigger the clutch mode, making everything super slow except yourself, basically you become the safest person in the game, while the one being clutched becomes the unsafest, any slash any anymation becomes super punishable.

And to make it worse, the Zetsumei while in clutch would deal the exact same amount of damage equal to how far you manage to build your clutch marker, if you build 80% of the marker, you would practically be killed in one blow, this killed the game.

Besides power only caused disarm which i think it was pretty lame, the sword breaking were more awesome.

I didn't have a Neo Geo, but I had access to one at work - so I played a little SS1. My Tam Tam rolled everyone at work. So, I started actively looking for money matches. I can honestly say I never lost a money match in SS1 and I played a whole lot of them. When SS2 came out, all I saw was no Tam Tam.

Mizuki casted a spell on him in the beginning of SS2 since he is a powerful shaman mizuki wanted him out of the way, his sister Cham Cham went looking for him, with the aid of a monkey that keeps following her around who randomly appeared a few days after.

If you finish Cham Cham story, the spell is broke and Cham Cham realizes that the monkey that was helping her this whole time its her brother Tam Tam.

Her gameplay is pretty trick and is very high risk high reward, she uses a boomerang, which has somewhat the same mechanics of hat trick, she can throw it, but if you block until her boomerang returns she can't use any boomerang based attack which are her sword normals, in turn, if you slash and she blocks bare handed before the boomerang returns she takes damage.

The most annoying thing about cham cham, are her hop moves, they are very punishable on block or whiff, but are so deceiving since it can crossup, she is also very small and is one of the annoying cases of small hitbox characters.

Monkey tam tam has some of his SS1 moves when she uses him as aid, like the fireball, and the helicopter slide, he can fire the skull too.

Cham Cham was good. She just wasn't Tam Tam. They had removed MY character - so I was out.

I was OK the goofy green guy and the German metal arm guy, but it wasn't the same. To this day, the game has my disdain for removing my favorite character in any fighting game at that time.

Believe in the hop kick
I think I played one of these games as a kid on Sega Megadrive II, back when game rental was all the rage. I remember mashing the same attack with a character that looked like Jubei but lost to some character who sent a dog to eat my face lol.

The one with the dog is my fav ninja, Galford.

It's most likely you played either as Haohmaru or Ukyo. When you mean about Yagyu Jubei, you mean someone with those traditional clothes or swords, so I thought of them two.

This game was just so good. I still play it from time to time on my Ouya and I get heated, but the game is exhilarating - win or lose.

But hey, do we have some gameplay of this new Samurai Shodown? Judging by this video, it will be like the old ones with the very basic stuff. I remember this video a while ago. They said that they got rid of the blood gore.

I need Seiger in my SamSho's
Sieger was one of the most fun characters to play in SSII indeed, he also had that unique design of getting life lead with chip damage because his qcf+a... was so god, easily more than light slash on block and eating lot of chip would make him get lots of life leads.

I remember once, we were struggling against some Ukyo on another region they had SS2, we put Sieger jut to chip them all to death lol.

As much as I love SS2, sword breaking is a shit mechanic since it results in zero tactical play outside of the sword broken character running around and waiting for their weapon to be dropped (disarming actually creates more tactical play around trying to get the weapon back). There's a reason the rule in Japanese tournaments is to wait until the new weapon is dropped.

SS2 is fun to play every now and again but imo 5sp is the best one. 2 feels hella outdated now whereas 5sp is like a "best of" that incorporated what was good about the first two games but moved beyond them. The movement options as well as Rage Explosion & State Of Nothingness modes even further enhance the meta. It's also a better competitive game in my opinion.

2 does have a certain vibe though.

Yeah, disarmed characters have a broke parry as well.
