Due to unforseen circumstances that have put some of the team's travel arrangements in jeopardy, several members of Empire Arcadia's gaming team have been left without a portion of the necessary funds to make their way to the Evolution Championship Series. In an effort to raise some money in order to compensate for the situation, EMP's founder Triforce Johnson and members KDZ and DarthArma will be holding a special fundraising stream all afternoon/evening today.

The special stream will be held from 4:30 pm-3 am EST and feature Injustice: Gods Among Us and League of Legends play, and will be streamed by Jaxel's 8wayrun channel.

Founded in 2001, Empire Arcadia is one of competitive fighting gaming's oldest and most storied organizations. EMP is home to a number of well-known and top FGC players, including KDZ, REO, Tom Brady, Nuckledu and Flocker, who are all affected to some extent by the current situation.

In addition, Kevin "Dieminion" Landon is attempting to overcome his own personal circumstances in order to make it to EVO 2013. He has his own donation page here: https://www.wepay.com/donations/dieminion4evo_1

I do. "Digital Marketing Group" or w/e they call themselves. So what's the point of having VXG/EMP what are they providing is my point...it's the same as just representing yourself alone.

Jesus.....live within your means. It's not a job until someone starts cutting you checks. Until then...might want to consider joining the rest of the community and country who have to work and pay to do things. Just a thought. I seem to remember a saying about eggs and a basket at times like these.

Please, in the name of all that is good and just, don't give this jerkoff any money. He still hasn't even explained what the hell these "unforseen circumstances" were. As for the other players begging for a bailout to make it to EVO, sorry, it's a privilege not a right. Shouldn't be our problem that their asses don't know how to plan ahead and manage their finances.

Yeah EMP has been a questionable organization for many years in the FGC. But the players in EMP were made an offer, did everything they were supposed to do and were shafted. You don't have to like EMP, but don't blame the victims (the players) for getting shafted.

There are a lot of great PLAYERS in EMP and you should help them out if you can if you want to see them playing at EVO. It's as easy as that. Don't let your EMP bias get in the way of helping them if you have the means.

This isn't funny and they probably feel like shit about it, as you would if it happened to you.
Sorry, I just can't have sympathy for something of this nature. At its core, its still a recreational activity and if they want to make it to tourneys, they need to plan ahead and make it happen like the rest of us. And that includes getting stuff in writing, if they are that serious about it. I refuse to believe that grown ass men are this naive. But, in any case, carry on, I'm not trying to stop anyone from taking part in this, just voicing a concern.

Well I agree with you about some of that. But even if they did get it in writing they would still miss EVO by the time they got their money if they took them to court over it.
Absolutely. But like I said, until you submit a w-4 and someone is cutting you checks, you're still an amateur and better have a fallback plan and a way to pay for whatever it is that you want to do. (I tried to make a career playing in music for a long time so perhaps I am a bit biased)

They all knew what EMP was before they signed up - don't dare try to paint then as some innocent victims bullshit

thank God I live in Vegas :). I have asked for donations before to get to SCR, and you know what, me and denzell definitely did not want to do that, and definitely will make sure to not do it again. Personally, if his sponsor isn't helping him (like ours wasn't) then he should leave it immediately and attempt to get another sponsor (which me and denzell have done).

I'm sure we'll see in the days to come who's fault it was. Keep in mind, I don't like EMP and I don't think it was a smart decision for players to trust that org either. But it wasn't their fault that they didn't get what they deserve from the 'whatever-ship'.

They had good reason to expect that they would get their sponsorship with the backing of VxG. It looked very convincing to me and plenty of other people.

But I do agree that players in general shouldn't solely rely on funding from outside sources for almost anything like this, although not everyones life and opportunities are the same. Had Triforce spent the same amount of time working as he did talking shit on streamcasts, he would have the money to sponsor everyone for EVO without assistance.
I can agree with this sentiment.

he should definitely change sponsors if EMP isn't helping him get to the tournaments he wants to go to, that'd prevent this from happening again.

Right now people are jumping to conclusions about things they know little about.. Unless you've talked to the people involved, I'd say just take a deep breath and don't spread misinformation.

You wouldn't want someone else to do it to you :)

This is very unfortunate. Generally, I'm of the opinion that the FGC is a hobby, and as such people need to use their disposable income to pay their own way.

However, this being my hobby, both as a participant and as a spectator, I am planning on giving to Dieminion. He is my favorite player, and I want to be entertained by his amazig play in Vegas. I don't care if he had a sponsor or not. He could've simply said, "I'm working but just can't afford this... can anyone help?"

I'm sitting at a bar right now chugging down a single drink that is more expensive than the $20 I will donate to help him. As an adult with disposable income, that $20 is well worth the investment in my entertainment. It's way cheaper than taking my wife out to a movie, and I'll probably be more entertained, too.

I can understand why people may be against donating, but keep in mind that everyone has a different view on donation drives like these. To each their own, I say. Me, I wanna see Dieminion make top 8 in sf4!
