Problems with DBF Command Grabs in Injustice

Hi all,

I'm having a problem with doing any of Lobo, Bane or Cyborg's DBF Command grabs I've practiced them till I'm blue in the face and still cant get them off in a combo. I REALLY wish the Forward part wasn't in the motion because that's the part that keep screwing me up.

Dose anyone have any suggestions or tips on how to get the dam things to work so I can play the characters I like? PLEASE help thanx.

I would help, but I do not have this problem at all. Idk if the rest of TYM agrees with you or not, but maybe the way your inputting the move is what causing you to drop it. Either your inputs are off or you're just inputting them to fast.

Too fast?... IDK how that could be an issue, but thanx (Now I'm more confused)

In NRS games I noticed either mashing a move or inputing a move too quickly can cause your combo to drop. All FGS combo inputs and timings are different from one another. Just got to get used to it I guess.

IDK, I played Street Fighter and MK and mained T.Hawk and Sheeva. I never had this issue before. Is there some timing trick I need to learn?

Now what exactly is happening? Is your move not coming out or are you missing the move?

With Killer Frost, I input the motion as QCB, F and it works every time. I'm not sure what other advice I can give. It's definitely consistent though.

People on TYM do agree with the OP, as I've seen in the Harley Quinn combo thread.

@OP - What I could gather from the combo threads, the most common solution they gave was to do the input in a half circle type of way. As in, roll your pad from down - back - forward in a smooth motion.

Example: I do Lobo's J2,B2,U1,D2 Command Grab and as the opponent is in the air he either dose the Standing Chain Grab or just dose a F2 punch.

Get over here!
The timing is so precise. The only advice I can give is to practice. I also mess up the inputs for the command grabs. I am getting way better though. Just keep on practicing the command grab to add it to your muscle memory. Then practice it in the middle of a combo on the training bot. After you get the input and the timing down it will be like second nature. :16Bit

Art this is what I do when inputting a command grab. i do it as a half circle motion as stated above.

Well, at least I don't feel oike a dork now for having this problem, Thanx. It's VERY frustrating!
Tom Braddy tell Ed Bonn to change the command grabbs and take out the Forward Motion..Make it SO #1... :D

Also the problem might be you're inputting the command too late during the string. If you wait until the last hit to finish inputting the special, it might not come out. Try to input it fast enough so that you have the entire DBF input completed by the second hit (in a 3 hit string).

Well, to me it seems the problem is when I hit the down trying to get to the Forward motion on Lobo the command for his "Chain Grab" comes out instead of the grab. It seems the moves are so close in inputs one small touch at the bottom of the stick and your boned.
Also, I just can't play with Alternate controls. It's to weird.

What command is the chain grab?

Make sure you're not using SF inputs. I don't find the motion difficult at all from 1p, but on 2p it's harder because the game's leniency 'shortcut' of d,db,d doesn't work mid combo, so often times you won't put the stick far enough right to register the b before you go forward. Look at your inputs on the button log, it'll probably look like d, db, f when you screw up in a combo and the grab doesn't come out.

Funny thing is, I did look at my inputs and 50% of the time it says I'm doing the right ones but it still gets lost. There are times when it registers the down as I go forward and thats when it seems to do the wrong move.

I am way too tired. I need to head to bed. I obviously thought it was like Grundy's chain throws.

On that note... practice makes perfect. :16Bit
TY for your help, and "Technically" Lobo dose have a "Chain" throw if you use his B2,U1,DBF2+MB (which I can't do),DB1 those are all throws :)

You have enough time to put the stick to neutral and just input forward separately. DB, pause for a moment, and F still works. Sliding to forward is probably riskier.

Yea, I gathered that. I might have to change the way I do it and re-tweek my muscle memory, because I'm so used to Street Fighter type inputs. Thanx !

I think this was mentioned in the Bane thread, but you can input down, back then wait a bit, and then input forward + attack for these specials. When playing Shazam, i juss slowly buffer the input during my combos and I haven't missed them since.
