Kenshi Speed Inputs

Impose

A Call For Blood
I just picked up MK9 about a month ago. Been learning Kenshi as a 2nd main after watching a lot of plays on him.

When I do DBF 4 and try and fast input it. I often times find myself jumping forward or straight up.
I'm using a wireless controller, as wired controllers Dpads to me are extremely floaty and loose.

What do people generally do when fast inputing three direction moves.

Obv I have no issues with DF or DB3. But when I roll my thumb I occasionally hit jump when trying to really speed it up. Is this a user error that easily corrected? Or should I just slow it down?

My local LAN center that I used to work at has fightsticks of the SS4 version.

Is it really an improvement on a dpad?
I tried a few fightstick combos in training with Ermac (main) and I was dropping everything right and left.

Fuck you; fight me.
Fightsticks require a certain amount of adjustment that takes longer than a pad, or a hitbox.

With a hitbox, you have your initial learning curve, but it won't take long before you can do everything. In a game like MK9, Hitboxes go a long way for technical characters, and even easy ones.

It has only improved my ability to play. .

I'll have a look :) Thanks!
I just feel like an idiot in matches online and standing almost full screen and I end up jumping right into them and eating damage.

Holy 220 dollars X_X

You don't need a hitbox thats total overkill. If you're using a 360 you may want to consider a pad change as the d pad isn't great.

I wish I could use the ps3 controller on the xbox360.

I like how on the ps controllers the dpad is separated into buttons. The dpad being all on one button throws me off quite often.

What would you reccomend when you say a pad change?
I'm kind of new to console gaming and MK9 is the only game i've really taken seriously

Just do the motion and watch yourself do it in practice mode. Work on where you're lacking and make it is as smooth and fast as possible.

Oh yeah, and play on what's comfortable. Explore new options if current ones seem awkward.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, they make converters for PS2 controllers to Xbox and Ps3. I only have the PS2 > Ps3 one, but I can definitely say it's worth the 23-27 dollars minus shipping.

Just do your back - foward inputs by sliding the bottom side of the d-pad not the top.

In training mode you should see your inputs registering as D B D F 4.

(instead of what you're most likely getting when you mess up D B U F 4)

you would see dbf4 because you never let go of down

if you actually did d b d f 4 you would get medium

your way does work though

Listen, if you don't feel like dropping the money for a hitbox or don't have it, it may be a good idea to just go with this.

Fair warning, this thing isn't too great for other fighting games as new, but a few mods can do the trick. The learning curve on this thing isn't too great, I was comfortable with it after about a weekend of play.
Also, I play as Freddy on this pretty often so if you just get into it you should be fine with your far specials.

woa woa woa slow down on the hitbox and stick talk

from me reading this im guessing you use a XBOX wireless pad, correct?

if so then buy etokki ps2 converter and a wired 12.99 ps2 pad from amazon

Follow the advice of those saying PS2 controller and converter. It's your most economical solution and it's legal in every single tournament. It's worth noting that some people also really like the Madcatz SF4 style pads, but I personally do not, and to my knowledge you would need one per console for tournaments since most run on PS3 and you're an Xbox player.

Get on that hook
Get an xTokki converter.I got mine last year or 2 years ago, my memory really sucks.

Anyways, it's amazing.you could use DualShock (1,2,3) to play on 360.

I think I'll do the PS2 idea. Since I spent most of my teen years on a playstation 2. dpad on them is awesome. Thanks guys

Honestly one thing that I wish NRS had done if they were trying to make this game so pad friendly is change the input on those special moves with varying ranges. Close should be DB Medium would be DF and far would be BF
