Does the MK9 AI get better over time?

Go to hell.
I have been playing a lot more ladder lately, and I have to say, the AI is getting crazy. In a good way, I'm having a lot of fun with the new challenge and don't even think about going online.

Johnny Cage F33 nut punch'd me every time I tried to do Jax's F412, and then JC went into pressure. Rain hit me with a 42% midscreen kombo. Kenshi makes ridiculous reads and his zoning is second to none. Sub Zero was actually doing BnBs, and finished a block string with clone a few times. This is just some of the things.

I fight the AI a lot, and I have to say, I think it learns. It stopped falling for Scorpion's vortex after a few matches, JC's F3 shenanigans are now shit, and I can never guess right with Noob's shadows This is on top of the stuff like the above.

Have any of you experienced this?

The AI gets better as you progress through the ladder. The Expert AI in Practice is fixed though, and never changes.

It might get better as you go up the ladder, but in general I don't think the game actually "learns" anything. We must be playing different games because even on expert they don't break and if they're lucky they might break a 30% combo. Most combos they drop too. I mean more power to you if what you're experiencing is what you describe, but I can't say the same unfortunately.

Thanks Mr. Mileena, you fucker.

I don't know, I always thought the AI was free as fuck. Go through the ladder and baby everyone. Now, it does real kombos and actually punishes... Weird. Even in training mode it just feels better.

As someone whose experience mostly comes from expert ladder, yes they must have updated the AI because they have certainly gotten better at the higher levels(The first few are usually pretty easy, but they can make some crazy reads).

Its still not as good as offline practice but it is great for practicing AA, Combos and Pressure.

I'm platinum mad!
I remember thinking the same thing when Sub did this to me in an "im bored" ladder run:
22~freeze, njp, b12, and then he dropped it.

I shat bricks.

when fighting AI Kung lao and you knock him down, get about jump distance from him and duck. if he teleports on wakeup 90% of the time still, than i doubt the AI learns. im not saying it doesnt, because i really havent done the ladder recently and i cant check it myself cuz i currently dont have a controller, but KL did this religiously about a month ago

Some of the top tier characters have the easiest AI. Kenshi, Kabal, and Johnny Cage have the easiest AIs. Rain and Jade have the hardest I find.

Interesting.
I'll look into this. I want to try the "Go through arcade ladder on expert without using a continue achievement."

yeah sometimes AI Rain juggles like a combo artist with his 11 hit combos, which is as close to being Tony T as the AI is capable of lol.
I also noticed that every now and then the AI steps it up. it doesnt matter who it is or where they are in the ladder, out of nowhere they are just more difficult to beat for a couple matches. then after you beat them the next one in the ladder is free as always. its strange lol

I've experienced that a lot lately too. AI goes hard like a mother fucker and then it's back to being a dumbass.

I went online for the first time in forever to see if I have indeed regressed. I'm still quite capable of beating many good players without mai resetz, and my fundamentals are there. AI just seems to have gotten...better...as of late.

I have the exact same thing. I swear to God it copies BnB's I do in training mode with whatever character I'm using, then when I face it in ladder it uses my BnB's/ Setups/ everything. Shit is crazy
