Video from the MK11 London reveal event: tabmok99 (working for MK Online) got a hold of Shaun Himmerick for a pretty solid interview. Covers a lot of things you might not have seen elsewhere, including Shao Kahn's possible role in the story.

People complain about that, but he’s of the Great Kung Lao bloodline like Lao and Liu and was trained by the same people as them, and was the same age they were during the trilogy when they were beating people’s asses like Shang and Shao.

Like him or not, why shouldn’t he be able to fight a Kahn like his relatives?

That is true but at the same time, Kung Lao died for being cocky with Shao Kahn just walking up and simply snapping his neck. Liu Kang dies for his arrogance and even though he’s one of the best earth fighters, still went out like a bitch with Raiden killing him by accident with his eyes closed. Kung Jin is just an ass and suffers no consequences especially compared to Liu and Lao, which is my issue with him

I wouldn’t put him in the same tier as Liu Kang and Kung Lao, bloodline or not. As strong as they are they never beat any boss as effortlessly as Kung Jin did Kotal. It didn’t make Kung Jin look strong, it made Kotal look like a bitch lol. That’s why I said I liked him until he got his ass mopped up.

Dude Liu Kang beat the living shit out of Shao in MK9 during the MK2 arc and punched a hole through his chest like it was nothing.

Lao was stomping in MK9 too, only dying due to a surprise attack after he’d already won.

The Great Lung Lao’s descendants are strong man.

I still wouldnt put Kung Jin in the same tier as them. I would compare Kung Jin to Zach Morris before I would Kung Lao. I still think Shao Kahn would absolutely decimate Kotal.

God I hope Shao beats the everliving shit out of Kotal Kahn. Such a sorry excuse for a ruler. In the comics he was cool but in the MKX game the guy was such a pushover. The true Kahn needs to reclaim his throne.

C'Mon, I don't think it's much of a secret why Kung Jin and Jacqui are the only combat kids that really get shit on. Cassie gets some of it but most people still like her and Takeda is Shirai-Ryu, he will always get a pass.

I didn’t really like any of them to be honest lol. Cassie was okay but I don’t like the idea of her defeating an elder god. It seemed so cheese. Again it didn’t make her look strong, it made Shinnok look like a bitch.

Shinnok is and always has been a biggity bitch. Shao Khan has always been a bitch too, Somehow, despite conquering Edenia, he never managed to get Earthrealm ever, and got seven shades of shit beaten out of him by a Bruce Lee rip-off. And even in the timeline Shao Khan did do shit, Raiden undid that so it basically never happened. The MK equivalent of yanking your little brother's system out of the wall so he can't win for once. They are not characters, they are bosses at the end of a tower, that's it.

lol fair enough. Shao Kahn gave up his immortality and godhood to conquer realms. Getting beat by Raiden isn’t bitch. Shinnok the immortal elder god getting beat by body suit Barbie is bitch made.

The interview is pretty great and has me pretty hype about the hinted at new and crazy stuff they gonna do with the game in terms of content.

Maybe the "Kombat Pack 0" Ed was thinking about during MKX and Injustice 2 is gonna be a thing for this game.
