I don't think it's all that surprising that the top players are not that receptive to your invitations. What is surprising is how personally you're taking it. You yourself said you do almost no traveling to tournaments. Well, I guarantee that were you to travel, introduce yourself and socialize with these elusive top players, play some games in hotel rooms or on casual setups in venue, you'd build the relationships you want and be able to get training partners from that higher level.

Think about it logically and unemotionally....if you're say I don't know.....scar. You have War of the gods tomorrow night, a major the next weekend and maybe war of the gods top 8 the following week. You've only got so many hours and days to train and grind matchups.

Are you going to get games with the guys and characters you're almost guaranteed to play in those competitive environments, or are you going to scroll through your psn messages and pick someone out to play?

I don't know, I wish you luck, but you're sounding very bitter and entitled and I don't really get it.

Tekken master is one of the best players in the world and I'm pretty sure he plays almost no one online, and has just his brothers and a couple friends to play locally.

I bet there are a ton of competitive players who would play you in long sets if the timing was right or you approached them the right away, they just might not be Theo, fox, semiij and illuusions.

Idk why people assume they NEED to play against top players & play all the time to be good. I train less than 15 hours a week, & most of it is ranked matches. To be honest I very rarely play long sets against other top players, like everyone assumes the top players do. I just play against my little bro offline when I'm home in Ohio and ranked matches and that's mostly it. I'm still getting these top 8's lol. Level up and stop whining, the only thing that can make you better is yourself
I think it's a little different for us though. You've been competing since mk9 and you're fundamentally sound and have the tournament experience and you're using your Main from the first game. I've been to ONE offline event and I hardly get games with people that are way better than me. Like I can see the skill gap between me and other competitive guys. I just don't really get the games to work on that stuff. 1 and done in ranked isn't gonna cut it for me. Can't wait for the ranked sets

You can get better with characters online ranked, but getting better as a fighting game player is something you learn playing high level opponents.

Like you can catch the hell out of a football, but how good of a wide receiver will you be once you get popped one good time? Gotta get used to getting hit hard to be able to deal with it better.

I don't get it, NRS community is the only group who thinks playing randoms in ranked is an ideal way to be better at the fundamentals of the game...you'll never hear COD players say "dude, just play Search and Destroy public lobbies, you'll get there dude"
There's a difference though, once you rank up high enough you'll get matched up with good players consistently a lot of which includes top players. Regardless of how you feel about online players, people in the top 100 are good players for the most part. In call of duty it just randomly matches you up with people, not skill based. It is also a team game which is much different than 1v1 so it has a much different dynamic.

I see your point, but fighting top players is overrated. There are enough super good lesser known players who'll give you enough mu knowledge to be able to beat these top players if you're good enough.

How do you think Aixy and Yammini beat Slayer for example? By getting games against Theo and Dragon? Nope, by playing good lesser known EU players online and applying that mu knowledge.

This is exactly what I was talking about. Because people think you're cool and respect you.

Also because you're apparently the Unbeatable One Hand Man... LOL
I mean I'm cool with Homelee and all but let's not act like he isn't good friends with Pig...

Dude, you can drive 3 hours in any direction in EU and be in another country. They don't live too far away from each other and the scene isn't nearly as big. You think they never played top EU players?

Pig isn't the only player who respects or is willing to play with Eric.
I know this but once you get in with one person you get connected with other people. Guarantee you if I'm best friend with sonic fox I can meet and play games with whoever I want. You don't even have to be viewed as a respectable person by most of the community. For gods sake, Lion was in every single mkx stream and a lot of people disliked him

Thus the social aspect to this whole situation. If Home Lee had never left his house and just bragged about how he should be taken seriously after beating some dudes in the bracket in ESL Season 2 or whatever, he wouldn't have that advantage.

I'm exaggerating a little to make the point; but you get what I'm saying. Most communities are socially driven at the root.

Ive actually only played pig in this game maybe twice. Pig is actually super busy these days and even when we have time to chill. i go to his house and we go out to eat or something. Irl > games just sayin
Yeah I know the feeling. Life hasn't allowed me to play the game nearly as much as I want. Honestly I'm more frustrated it's hard to get good games period. With anyone. I think a lot of it has to due with the 1 and done ranked and shit player match. Like if nobody I know is available to play then it's just me beating up on casuals

Matchmaking is terrible in this game and every other NRS game. Probably even more so in this due to the gear nonsense. I've been saying it for a while but people always just tell me to ask for sets.

I still don't get your point lol. Corzz even said he was part of a clan, travels, communicates, and has been around for a while yet he can't get games

Nah in mkx I could go to player match and still find good players and get long sets and add them. But because of the gear, this game has ruined a lot of the experience. Maybe once the ranked sets come I won't have to depend on anyone to level up. I can just hop right in and find good people like I did before at random
