Is the PS4 d-pad better than Xbox One's for Mortal Kombat?

Hello,

I have had Xbox One since December last year, and I am going to be getting a PS4 this christmas.
I have no knowledge about the PS4 controller whatsoever, but the thing that I'm more concerned about is their d-pads, Because I'm more less focused on fighting games, such as Mortal Kombat and Injustice, and I only use d-pads for those games.

I have no issues at all using the d-pads on Xbox One, they are actually pretty good d-pads, but if I'm getting a PS4 this Christmas, I'll need some of your guys' opinions about the PS4 d-pads, like if its good with Mortal Kombat online gaming.

Hope you can help, thank you.

Not at all. The ps4 pad uses one big piece of plastic so BF inputs will cause you to jump often. Xbone has the superior Dpad imo. It is alot harder to accidentally push up or down when trying to do BF inputs. I think Pig even had a thread about how garbage the ps4 pad is. ps2/3 pads are still the best tho, if you can get a converter

Terrible times breed terrible things, my lord.
Many perfer ps pads. Some I know even still rave at the ps2 pads were da best.

I have no opinion but to say I play on hitbox now and I've come from pad to stick to now hitbox.

Now I just got Gears 4 so I've been using the elite controller alot. And I think I might try that with mkxl because I'm thinking I can do some pretty neat stuff to be honest.

If anything get yourself a converter if you want to stick with xbox. But try out the ps pad too.

I use a brooks converter for xbox1 to ps4. The ps4 controller has back forward issues for me. I know that pig of the hut has had similar issues with the ps4 pad. I pretty sure sonic fox uses a ps4 pad. Basically i bet that you will prefer the xbone controller, but you can certainly get use to the ps4 pad.

Thanks for the help everyone, but I have one more question...How are the PS4 analogue sticks with MKX online? I dont use analogue sticks anymore due to all sorts of reasons, But are PS4's joysticks any good?

It depends of how you play. The PS4 pad fits me well and I'm comfortable with it. Tried with X1 and didn't fit me well, because D-pad is far away from the place it was supposed to fit with my left hand. Better play with PS4 controller.

Personal preference really. I prefer Xbox One pad over PS4 also and use a Brook converter when on PS4.

Some people have identified some input lag whilst using the Brook but I have yet to feel any personally and would highly recommend a purchase!

The Xbone d-pad is unquestionably better for 2D fighters. Take it from someone who's played thousands of matches on both consoles. With how the Xbone d-pad is designed compared to the PS4 d-pad, you don't have to be as deliberate with your directional inputs. I's effortless on the Xbone controller. BF motions are also a lot more consistent, as stated above. If you can find an ORIGINAL Xbone controller, before they started adding the 3.5 mm jack on the bottom, then that is by far the best way to play MKX. For some reason they also slightly modified the d-pads with the newer controllers and they're not as good for fighters. If you're going to play on PS4, then use a HORI FC Pro or a stick.

Any recommendation's for good controllers to use for the PC?

Right now I just use my PS4 controller and it's "fine" but the dpad is questionable.

I tried to use my USB snes pad, and it feels good, but since it lacks buttons, I had nowhere to put interactable and throw. And well I can just use the button combinations for it, the game demands that I assign the macro to something.

Maybe I should try my steam controller for fun...

PS4 EASY!
Well at least for me, Xbox controller feels weird to me. Too bulky I guess. It's just weird how you feel you have to hover your hand over the Xbox controller, ps4 feels much much better to me.

personally i prefer the ps4 pad, eventhough it's build quality sucks and the trigger buttons/dpad get broken easily
xbox pad takes some time getting used to, but still works just as good

i guess it's personal preference, just use what you're comfortable with

I play on both and have no issue switching back and forth. I like the PS4 controller slightly better... but both work well for me.

I went from playing on xbone to ps4 and hated the ps4 pad. D pad is huge so i got the brooks converter. Xbone pad is better for me. Guess it depends what suits you like i play xbone pad on ps4 for mkx but use a stick for sfv.

I play mostly on PS4 but go on X1 more often just to get all the achievements.
It's super key in my GM scrub tech to refreeze an enemy after being corner jailed.
So for the longest time I always thought PS4 was better because on the X1 it would always bomb than clone. It wasn't until I adjusted the controller settings (negative edge and etc.) that I was able to get a consistent re-clone.
I do like the D-Pad on the X1 than the PS4 but it really comes down to preference, I still love my Halo3 360 Controller which I use for MKXL on PC :D

Your mileage may very is pretty much the only "right" answer. To each their own, y'know? I despise the One's d-pad because it's too clicky. I love the DualShock 4's d-pad.

Yet, at the same time, I hate the DualShock 4's analog sticks and love the One's analog sticks. Your thumbs slip off of the analog sticks entirely too much and you're pretty much forced to buy thumb grips for it if you don't want them to. The One's analog sticks have a nice groove and the rigid edges to keep your thumbs from slipping.

I don't think either the One or DS4 where made well or good for fighting games. I use Hori FC and love it.

I heard from another thread that some HORI models do have their own problems. I'm waiting for the perfect one that could stay stable and active for a longer time.

As someone who uses both, they're both pretty mediocre options. I bought a CronusMAX to use my 360 pad on the XBone, and a Hori FC for my PS4.

Brady has found an issue with the PS4 controller where I think a grab comes out when you press a button? Something like that I don't remember. Reo says the pad is so bad he has to buy a new controller every couple months
