NRS.. PLEASE fix the input drop bug!!!

Tremloc

Mortal
last night I was playing a game against peckapowa and lost the round because apparently a jp counts as an overhead. :p

I was crouch blocking. My character was ducked, completely blocking, well ahead of his jp, I didn't let go of block or any other silliness and it hit me into full combo. I had to throw that salt right over my shoulder. I also saw a few times the bug reo described. Pecka was duck blocking and somehow managed to get hit by my ice blast. I think he was playing reptile though, he didn't play kabal at all.

Also every time my d4 ends up a standing 4 a kitten gets ex dick punched. MONEYSHOT

Uh...that's supposed to happen. It's not even hard to do consistently if you're spaced properly. It says "medium" right in training mode when you land a JIP. Seriously how can you be complaining about this like it's a bug when you don't even know that?

Ducking has a lower hitbox than duck blocking. Transitioning to/from block while ducking will give you a brief moment where you have the duck block hitbox but aren't blocking. It's not an input dropping bug.

We dont need to recreate it. Ive seen this happen to you time and time again. To those saying the input bug is BS, you are 100% wrong. Every single top player VSM has acknowledges it. Some of the best players in the world, CD.Jr, Maxter, REO, Erik Warda, Tom Brady, Classy Sasquatch etc. etc. All have fallen victim to this. Are you going to tell me the best players there are dont know how to execute a D4? They dont know how to crouch to duck an ice blast? Come on, thats nonsense. REO has some of the best execution Ive ever seen, he isnt making this bug up and neither is anyone else, its there. Ive experienced it myself many times, please dont tell me I dont know how to D4, its a single motion. An SRK,FADC,Ultra in SSF4 is like 20 motions in 1 and half seconds and I can do that everytime, and I dont even play that game.
well i haven't experienced it. it's never happened to me. so i can only go off of my experience. but i refuse to believe that all these top players, or all of us in general...are not capable of human error. i don't care how good REO's execution is, mine, Brady, yours or whoever...everyone is bound to make mistakes in their inputs. especially when they're (or me) trying to do inputs as fast as they can.

so I mean how can u truly tell the difference between a human error and an input bug (especially when both can happen randomly or on accident with human error)?

why hasn't nrs acknowledged this is an issue or that this bug truly exist (when they have confessed and fixed, or try to fix, or said they will fix soon, 98% of the problems we found with this game)?

so yea i'm calling BS until nrs acknowledges that this is an actual problem and that the bug truly exist. because they have been pretty open about all other issues in this game with the community and even issues we have found.

Happens a lot with Baraka's B3 too.
Damn. And I was swearing at myself for being an useless moron who can't even execute such a simple string consistently. For me it always seems to happen on the second or third B3,1 where you have to cancel the dash with it and be quick about it. Maybe it's so very noticeable with Baraka because you use that string multiple times inside a combo, so the chances of it happening is much higher.

Holy crap really? I didn't know jp was an overhead! :O I'm now embarrassed.

That's a failure in their design then, input bug or otherwise, but the issue I described didn't have to do with him transitioning to block. He was already duck blocking, well in advance of my ice blast. He might have let go of block, but I doubt it.

Dark Rob, I agree with you and I definitely know these bugs are for real. I'm not trying to disprove you guys, I'm just interested in getting specific examples and figuring out the reasons they happen. Up until recently this thread has been a bit vague, and I think we need to really pinpoint this stuff if we want NRS to do anything.

I'll be around this evening and can get on XBL if anyone wants to test stuff out. The Kabal vs. Sub thing in particular has me curious.

You would have a point if this issue didn't happen with some consistency to the top tier players. AFAIK nobody playing SF complains of "when I do a D4 my character randomly stands up and does a 4". I've literally seen cage go to crouch, then stand, then punch, even though I never released down.

I don't think anybody here is saying that human error doesn't happen, but the issue is happening so often in MK that something else must be going on.

Oh yeah, another issue I've noticed is that on rare occasions, when I'm recovering from a move and try to do a crouching attack ASAP I get a standing attack even if I don't let go of down. I'm thinking maybe on the first frame after recovering from a move, you remain in whatever "state" (standing or crouching) the move's recovery left you in, and if you press a button on that first frame you'll attack in that state regardless of direction.

This is a very interesting theory.

i'm going to stay out of this thread. this thread really pisses me off greatly. this fucking bug doesn't exist until nrs confirms it. the end.

everyone complains when you make mistakes: mid match, practicing combos, especially playing online, when they think their character is in neutral to do their next move or movement, when they have tourney nerves/jitters and etc and etc.

PEOPLE MAKE MISTAKES!

Yeah, no bugs exist until NRS confirms they exist! rawr!

I'm not leaning one way or the other.... but just last night one of our best was occasionally getting standing attacks when doing low pokes..... I heard him bitch about it but I wrote it off as human error. I have no clue now.

I think those complaining about the issues need to put up. Compile your evidence, your videos, whatever it may be and put it up here so that even the layman can't dispute it anymore. Words alone aren't enough - if there's proof we need to shove it in NRS's collective faces.

AFAIK nobody playing SF complains of "when I do a D4 my character randomly stands up and does a 4".
That's because high level Street Fighter play is the sum of memorizing every character's glitchy, arbitrary hitboxes and treating that like it's a deliberate feature which creates depth.

MK doesn't have nearly as much of that, so when something like that happens it looks totally out of place (and I agree should be fixed).

i have never encounter this offline, online tho, thats the norm lol
but offline, never.
And no offense to anyone, but why is this such a big issue now? games been out for 5 months now, and theres issues now?
again, no disrespect at all...just wondering why people are all up in arms about it now, and not before.

Actually I thought about that as well. With some characters, I get a random standing 1 if I try to d1 too much from certain circunstances.
The other thing would be me getting a neutral jump instead of a directional jump, but I believe that's because of me being a pad user.

Think of it this way... if a top player keeps saying that loss was on an "input bug" what would the community (big factor here) think? They would say "EXCUSES!!!" and just pass it off. Now that we have consistent streams, tourney's and such, people are finding out that sometimes they get an input they didn't want and go "hmmm, did I really do that?" or when you are watching Klassy corner rape someone and then a standing 4 comes out... and you HEAR him go nuts. yeah.
This community would rather bash the prominent players than actually believe them. So they stayed quiet until now.

Because this game had a host of other far more obvious things for people to complain about, from Cyrax's bomb trap & resets to the various block infinites to Kung Lao in general. Now that a lot of these things have been fixed or toned down in some way, this stands out to many as perhaps the biggest problem left with this game (I personally still say it's the netcode, but that's for a whole other thread).

NRS might not have acknowledged it because they're trying to reproduce it consistently. Its the first step to fixing a bug, making it happen so that you can figure out why.

Anyway, there's a problem when I press d1, the duck animation starts, but then a standing punch comes out instead of low poke.

I read how you tried to repo it, its not when you've been ducking and want to hit one, its when you want to quickly go into a duck and then poke. Sometimes it just ignores the down, sometimes it actually starts the animation then cancels it and you do standing one.

It seems like a random thing. It can still happen even if you are holding down.

This glitch still being in the game really shows how we must bring every bug into the light. I thought for sure this glitch was going to be fixed in this patch. It’s just so common and game altering. Even kenshi’s not being able to cancel dash with u4. Yet they fix this with Skarlet.

the more people talk and make a big stink about this problem, and it is a problem more chance something will be done about it
eg.look at what happened to kung lao, people screamed it, it was addressed

Well there was lots of video proof that Kung Lao was brainless easy mode fare.

I still haven't seen video proof of a single case of this alleged input bug, let alone a way to reproduce it.

Tom Brady made a video months ago. It happens to me all the time...

Is it just me, or has the glitch seem to have gotten worse post-patch? Or perhaps I'm just playing too quickly now? None the less, I'm tired of it.
