From my experiences with Injustice and MK9, this is a big problem with NRS fighting games. Out of all fighting games, I think a lot of NRS fans are the biggest crybabies and rage quitters. It's frustrating when you lose, lose, lose, then finally have a good game where all of your hard work comes together and people quit out online. I've played many fighting games and watch streams from games I don't even play, and sadly, no other fanbase seems to quit as frequently and easily as NRS gamers do.

Anyone else for putting some sort of humiliating sticker by someone's name, or even going the Killer Instinct route of putting players in "jail" for quitting or dashboarding? I understand you have every right to turn off your console or quit out of a game that is overly frustrating for you, but what also needs to be understood is that there are many like me that play for the competition online, and thrive when the going gets tough against a quality opponent. In my opinion, not addressing this major problem in MKX would be a big mistake. With the technology out there now, there's no reason rage quitting should go unpunished these days in fighting games. Just to gauge how people feel about this, I will be throwing a poll up along with the thread.

i've had to quit on friends I was playing because I had to go change a diaper or take an important phone call. why should I be punished for that? quitting incurs a loss. That's fine since I don't give a shit about my online record. A lot of quitters do, thinking it won't impact their stats.

It's a problem in every game.

However, they can implement a system where if you are to quit out of too many games within a certain period of time you will be restricted from playing for a number of minutes. This will detour most people.

I also like your idea, it can be implemented as a Reputation system.

I once used to find ragequits frustrating and annoying...but now absolutely nothing makes me happier. I love ragequits so much that when playing as arrow I will sometimes send voice messages informing the other player just how badly they failed their city. A ragequit is more than just a simple victory over the other opponent, its breaking them to the point that they mentally check out. Additional punishments are fine but unnecessary in my book.

The only people who actually annoy me are the ones who decide that they're going to teach you a lesson for "spamming and corner trapping" by waiting you out at the character select screen and quitting at the start of the round just to waste your time. Fuck those guys.

some games try to implement some sort of punishment, but it usually ends up being annoying. for example, if your internet/game randomly disconnects and it treats you as if you ragequit. i never ragequit in injustice, but according to the game, i disconnected lots. i don't really care anymore. i think it's funny especially now that i can press the share button after it happens. their punishment (if on next gen) is that they're most likely on stream/will be recorded and end up on youtube.

It is a problem in every Fighting game and regardless of hard developers try there is usually a way to circumvent it. It does suck but if the person quits just decline every match from them unless they had a reason. If you are constantly just playing randoms or rank there is high chance people gonna RQ.

Regardless I hope they take every step to punish them without hurting regular players with legitimate excuses.

Rage quitters screw up my lobbies. The servers can't seem to handle a sudden break in connection during a game causing everyone to get kicked. If rage quitting is not punished at least implement a system where it doesn't screw the other people that don't mind getting their ass kicked over and over.

Give them +1 on the disconnect counter (on their profile), me a win and let me do a fatality on them instead of the screen freezing and I'm cool.

In that way people can recognise ragequitters, people with bad internet (at the time of the match) won't be screwed and the ''winners'' will still get a win.

At first rage quitting annoyed me. But like many of you said as long as I get the win I'm fine haha. Also I would like to do a fatality on their character.

I like how Dota handles it. If you rage quit, you are forced into a pool of players who have also rage quit recently for a set amount of games (called low priority) and you are stuck in this pool until you complete this set amount of games.

I've started to quit matches, win or lose, just because I don't want to watch the win animations (or an opponents fatality). A waste of time for me.

Not sure why people get so butthurt about it. I vote no.
