Is Injustice going to die when MK X gets out?

Simple question. Is Injustice going to die when MK X gets out? Will its spot in EVO be replaced by MK X? I'm just starting to really get into it, learning a lot everyday just by digging out the wealth of information and stuff here in this site. Although I also play Street Fighter and that game taught me fighting basics, it's Injustice that has taught me reaction and how to do the whole mental meta-game aspect, at least on a much higher level. Would suck if everyone just dropped it overnight because some other game got released. Don't misunderstand me, I'm probably going to play MKX too....but not everyone is as fast a learner as your typical Evo semi-finalist

I'm guessing it will die as much as MK9 died when Injustice came out, and then it will come back when Injustice 2 is announced. It might retain a larger following than MK9 did, though, just because it's a superhero game populated with popular characters.

A game lives as long as people are willing to play it and do side tournaments. But speaking strictly about being a main game at EVO, it's going to be tough.

Mathematically they would need to run 9-10 games for Injustice to have a chance imo. Too many new fighting games on the horizon:

New Smash
MKX
GG Xrd Sign
Capcom's new game
SNK's new game
Tekken 7

That's 8-9 slots not even counting other games like Melee, KOF, BB, Persona, TTT2/TxSF, DOA etc.

I think it'll almost completely die. MK9 enjoys life because the brand is nostalgic and loved. IGAU doesn't have that and is basically filler between MK titles. $100 says it's dropped like a rock by next EVO

Why? because most of this community doesnt give a shit abut the game and only played it because there wasnt a new MK, the old one was a broken mess, and IGAU was the closest thing they were gonna get to one until a new MK was announced

There will be a significant drop off in tournament numbers following MKXs release and the months leading up to it. There will also be less posts on TYM about it. This is expected though, the community has proven that they can't manage two games at once. Don't worry though, it will never truly die as long as I am here

It wont be as big but it wont die out completely. There are a lot of people that have never been too involved in the MK community that came over for Injustice, so they will most likely stick with it. It may not be a main game at EVO but if the community still likes playing it I am sure a side tournament would be ran.

MK is also way more popular then injustice. You might think it wouldn't because there's lots of DC fans but the MK series has been around longer and people have more passion for it.

Also injustice isn't appealing to super hardcore DC fans or maybe fans of characters Like superman. No DC or superman fan is trying to play a game where superman isn't bodying everyone. Shit makes no sense.


I'll always sign up for injustice even if I don't play it. If I go to TFC I will assure you I'll compete in injustice. There should be no reason why the NRS COMMUNITY isn't supporting each other's game.

I genuinely love injustice more than I think I've ever loved a competitive game and I always will with a passion...but as much as I'd love to tell myself otherwise....It hard for me to see this community pulling together and building a side tournament at Evo that's anywhere close to what they did for MK9 this year.

Eh, you'd be surprised. The DC community is actually kind of divided on how OP superman is. I think most of them find it kind of annoying actually. A lot of them really enjoy seeing him get...humbled.

EDIT: besides, at the very least Captain Marvel, Black Adam, lobo, and Doomsday should go even with him.
