Schedules start on Friday for almost all games, with a couple that had to bump to do so. Keits makes us all sign an agreement when we sign up every year making sure we understand games could start Friday. This year the first tentative schedule changed 2 days after his first posting because multiple games needed brackets bumped to twice their original/expected size (thus the tentative part). UFGT runs on 16 man pools in blocks, and has for years to ensure it has ludicrously precise bracket timing. I know thats a struggle (I was in a bumped pool my first year attending), but its also the flip-side of that precision. Its also going to become more common as tournaments grow, stuff just has to start on Friday (including Capcom, Anime, and UFGT's baby the Mystery Game Tourney at UFGT this year).
On the plus side Injustice is now prepped to run exactly on time all the way through a 256 man bracket. The best advice I can offer is to email Keits that you're an out of state, pre-registered entrant, and are unsure you'll be able to make Friday. He won't confirm any type of special treatment for you, but I know he'll keep it in mind when setting up the brackets.
