I know everyone says PS3 lags and it makes 360 the better system to compete on but is the difference that big? I've only played on 360 a few times and I didn't see much of a difference but maybe that's just me. I'm only bringing this up because the whole issue with the hotfix not staying on the 360 system if it gets turned off and it needing to be patched again seems like a real time killer and can lead to all sorts of problems... whereas the PS3 system keeps the hotfix regardless of connecting online or not.

I have had this talk a lot with people. The problem is that certain stages (I.e. The lagoon portion of batcave) are essentially unplayable on ps3. And since this game has interactables, and MUs change based on stage, my argument would be that all stages must be available, and that requires the 360. The hot fix issue is an inconvenience, but I would argue it is not as bad as having unplayable stages. My .02.

I would agree if I found certain stages 'unplayable' but hey, maybe that's just me. You're right about the whole hot fix issue simply being an inconvenience but it's kind of a big one when it delays a tournament for an hour which is what I believe happened at FR. If NRS would release another patch so the 360 would always be updated to the most current version, this wouldn't be an issue for me but not knowing if a system is up to date or not kills time and isn't optimal IMO.

the issue with messing up the hot fix are dt player errors and having to many profiles on the console.

This seems like a good step forward and all, but the last time we tried to discuss what makes a major etc. it dissolved rapidly into nonsense.

Props for trying to set up a "community approved" points system, but I'm just worried issues will arise from it.

It's not just on your end though which is the issue.
"big names" will come along and they will disagree because they couldn't make x tournament so it shouldn't be worth y amount, certain scenes will disagree with the amount of points that are realistically available to to their region.

For the most part the community can't seem to make up it's mind if a single tournament is a major or not, let alone all of them. Someone will always be there to say "I wasn't there so it wasn't a major" and other people who would benefit/support will rally behind them.

Best of luck, it's not an enviable task.

its not their call. i don't care who they are. if we as a community decide the qualifications.. thats how it goes. thats why we need to be clear and objective.

I write too much.
This layout is really well done. The hardest part will be enforcing it obviously. Who will be the one to make sure the TOs follow it, and what would the consequences be if they don't?
You could enforce it the same way the Smash Community enforced their rules: If TOs didn't agree to official community rules, Smashboards would not advertise their tournament.

It would be really hard for a TO who wants attendance to get it without using TYM at all, which in turn forces them to follow the rules.

EDIT:

If players require/request a blind pick, each player is to secretly tell the bracket runner their pick. Once both players vocalize their pick to the bracket runner, it is then revealed who each player MUST choose prior to advancing to the stage select.
@P2W Any reason why this is even necessary when we already have a hide cursor option? I'm genuinely curious as to why that option doesn't get used/isn't being discussed as the go-to blind pick option.

I know the hot fix issue is an issue but it's Xbox or nothing! First and most obvious it's the official console for EVO. Second the stages lag and make it feel like I'm playing online! I'm a scorpion main and when I play someone and teleport while an animation is going on a la drones on watch tower it lags! Or when I get someone in a string and then teleport to start the vortex it will lag on some stages! I discovered this at an EGP event and these PS3 's were new and had nothing on their hard drives so I know it's something that happens due to ps3 hardware!
