Need Help Against Kitana.Good Kitana's Please Look.

Ok, this is the deal. I honestly feel like I can't do much against Kitana, her pokes put me so far away from her that I can't even low kick her. So what I need is visual help.

I would like any really good Kitana to add me on PSN and play me a couple of rounds and hopefully tell me what I should do differently. I'll be recording these matches against really good kitana players and hopefully you guys can help me out. So if your down. Please add me, especially if your in the East Coast. I main Smoke, so I apologize if you dislike him. I'm pretty decent, just looking to get much better. =]

Also, if you live in the NYC area, let me know. I'd love to play offline. Going to some casuals/tourneys soon, so I would like to get the most experience possible before hand.

Kitana is slow. She looks fast, but dont be fooled. Her strings are very slow. Your teleport is fast enough to punish anything she can do with fans, and her rushdown is deceptively easy to beat. Never block low when she is trying it, she has 0 mixup (Her f41 has an overhead, but its telegraphed, slow, and only 2 hits so you should easily be able to spot it. Its the long legged roundhouse followed up by a downwards fan slash). Her low poke is good, and probably the best move she has. But your pokes are not exactly useless, and your sweep is possibly the best in the game. Dont jump in on a Kitana, unless you know you can make it happen. Dont be afraid to rushdown her with smoke. Im not kidding here, I main kitana and I can tell you that she folds like a bitch to a rushdown. The poke is all she can do to defend herself close in. Its ironic really, Kitana is perhaps most dangerous in a super aggressive rushdown, yet she dies to it easily as well.

If she tries to zone, just take the chip and use that teleport and parry. Dont be afraid to burn meter on EX parry. Smokes teleport is the fastest in the game and you can beat those fans with it. The IAF is harder to deal with, but its also one of the most difficult moves in the game to master, and not many people use it online because lag really hurts it, like most of Kitanas moves. Dont forget to never fear getting in Kitanas face. I think this is one reason she is not used more in tournaments, besides her high learning curve. She has some real, severe, yet heavily masked weaknesses. People see the 50+ combos and think OMG, but they require freakish timing, and they are started by some of the most finicky launchers in the game.

Imma kitana player too but I don't agree wit her being slow..yes her strings are pretty slow for the most part..but overall if played right shes everwhere...u also forgot that her f4 also links into f4 f1(overhead) f4 b4 is a sweep which can lead right back into another 50/50 and her f4 f3 (I think) which I think is pretty useless to me...but d1 is not of the best pokes in the game for a reason...we can use it to transition from defense to offense so always watch for that...IAF is less of a problem with smoke because of shake..so the best thing to do is always be ready for anything kitana can throw at you(not literally) as you play more kitanas and diferent playstyles you will gt used to the matchup....wish I could play with you bro but I got xbox sold my ps3 cuzz it collected dust lol

I dont think Kit is slow at all, just kinda an average pace. But, she like yungmoney said is very dynamic and all over the place. I think Cutter is a very underutilised tool by alot of even great Kits I play and is awesome at controlling close quarters (touching to sweep distance). I frustate players with it all the time, esp when they try to rushdown or get in a little close. Its not the ridiculous "I'll fuck you if you try to touch me move no matter what"-move that Lao has (sry KL players, but its still TOO good lets be real here), but its still a great move when timed right, and sets up all kinds of safe jump scenarios with f4.

As for as her folding under pressure, I really have to disagree. She has the cutter, the best d1 poke in the game (which can be linked into Cutter off contact btw), she has Sq boost, to get out of trouble when timed right, and EX Sq Wave which is even safer. EX pretty leg (db 3) is pretty decent as an invincible wakeup as well.

Her mixups are def not the best, but thats b/c she has her other ways of making trouble. Besides, f4, 1~Cutter does 6% chip and builds 7/12 meter, its uninterrupatble as long as f4 connects , has some pushbacks and can be followed up with d1 pokes or even d1~Cutter on every char except for guess who (*cough* Kung Lao, due to what else but spin). Not sure about Raiden's superman, but never had problems having Kit do the follow up on SZ even tho he has the ice clone.

So yea f4 mixups or just doing the f4 chip string off of ANY jps is all you really need to do. maybe kit players can save for f2,1 if they see it will connect (off a jps where opp char is clearly still in recovery or startup frames of a move as it happens) or as a punish. Or even against wakeups in certain scenarios.

Kitana gets first hit then does a blocked jps~f41~cutter and she is dangerously close to xray in a heartbeat.

@Sabiie, you can teleport her iAF if you time it right, and EVERY normal air fan you can punish with teleport. Every time you knock her down with a combo or whatever, whiff a teleport and sweep her to negate her wakeup. She can't do shit about it. She can still wakeup cutter you if you try the overhead combo though, but only if she is played by a jedi lol

Yea but you can use f4 mixups off of jps, right? Thats what I meant, I thought you stated that in another post, didnt you. I guess I mustve misunderstood.

Either way almost always using the f4,1~Cutter off of Jps is a good tactic to go by, since it provides good results wwhether the opp char is blocking or not, which is also more what I was getting at in the post.

I know its online, but if I can memorize what to do on certain strings and how to react it would benefit me greatly. Thank you in adavance. I use Liu Kang and I don't stand a chance. All kitanas spam there fans at long range, and when I try to spam my projetiles, they square boost and have a huge advantage. They poke and poke until I have no choice to go long range and get spammed at again. Please can any experts give me advice, anything will help. Add me and battle me so I can learn some tactics against her. Thanks

Did you figure out how to escape that damn d1 yet? My cousin mains her and I CANNOT get out of it. In the corner (I play scorpion) he has absolutely no options to get out of it.

Is this something that only works online or what?

Most characters can sweep under d1 or time a d4 on it just right.
 
Watch out for the F41 EXFancancel F21 Into a huge combo, most of it is unbreakerable. I've watched like all of Konqrr's and Jerrys Kitana Matches, and learned alot, maybe you should watch a few of them.
