Nightwing In Retirement
After Superman took a very well earned win at last week's WNF, Southern California Injustice players were ready to prove that his victory would be short lived. Although this week's winner isn't a new face, plenty of the results and character choices were quite surprising!
Interesting Notes For This Week:
Southern California is well known for it's Superman players, and Tyrant standing in the way of their victory. It seems as if the bracket gods decided to test Tyrant's will, by pitting him against not 1 or 2, but 3 Superman in a row. This hellish gauntlet ended with Tyrant fighting last week's winner MF Slayer. Tyrant's whiff punishing off f2, strong reset game, and a mistimed push block that turned into Tyrant's combo helped him win an incredibly close 2-1 against Slayer to put him into Winner's finals against Emperor Theo.
The Runbacks:
This week's WNF featured a number of rematches from the previous week. After defeating Slayer in a close 2-1 the previous week, Krayzie was sent to losers by the young Superman main early in the tournament. This prompted another runback, however, against FR Legend's Sinestro. After being defeated by Legend's Sinestro the week prior, Krayzie went down a game quickly. Krayzie didn't give into fear, however, and came back the following two games for a close 2-1 vicotry.
Emperor Theo was alsp rewarded a few runbacks. After playing mostly Aquaman the week before, Theo stayed true to Atlantis and played all Aquaman for the duration of the tournament. After losing to both RDK's Godspeed and MF Slayer the week before, Theo came back with the might of Atlantis to defeat both players.
Keeping the Dream Alive
The first match of top 3 featured RDK Tyrant's Grundy against Emperor Theo's Aquaman. Although Theo's spacing was very strong, Tyrant's ability to deal with Aquaman's trait, as well as strong reads allowed him to win a very close 2-1 over the King of Atlantis. This prompted a rematch between last week's winner MF Slayer and Emperor Theo.
Despite going down early in the first game, Theo's ability to stay patient and punish Slayer's attempts to walk forward helped him close out the first game with a win. Theo's great patience and strong use of Aquaman's d2 allowed him to grown a large lead in the second game, and come out on top with a 2-0 win over MF Slayer.
Emperor Theo's win over Slayer put him in grand finals against Tyrant for a rematch. Tyrant started the match completely unafraid with a dash followed by a tick throw. After pushing Theo to the corner and landing 3 resets in a row, Tyrant took an absolutely demanding lead. This didn't phase Theo, however, and he almost ended up coming back, but was caught by a well timed walking corpse by Tyrant's Grundy. Tyrant's strong play continued into the next game, and for the third time in top 3 the match ended 2-0.
Congratulations to Tyrant for winning another Wednesday Night Fights!
