What's a Smarrgasm?
Tonight brought the action in Atlanta for the second installment of the Atlanta Kombat Arena. Last week, during the inaugural tournament, Pig of the Hut tasted victory showing off his powerful zod.
This week boasted 19 kombatants from the deep south with many notable names. The top 5 of our ranking system in Atlanta (Pig, Reno, Smarr, Tre, Harold) were seeded with the rest being randomly put into the bracket. In the first round, many heavy hitters were on a collision course with Tyler Lantern and Trepound being matched early as well as Lord of the Fly vs Pig of the Hut and Smarrgasm vs Saltface.
The night began with many of the first matches beginning 2-0 and then multiple miraculous 3-2 comebacks by Lord of the Fly on Walker, Tyler Lantern on Tre (with a huge popoff to follow), and even Pig of the Hut on Lord of the Fly.
Bane was also a feature of the stream when RTD took on Black Preon with some powerful play from both players. Saltface then showed up with his patented Harley Quinn (7th at CEO) vs Smarrgasm which ended in a 3-1 set with some very hype moments and some super lame play by Smarr.
Before we knew it, the winners top 8 was set with pig facing harold and Smarr facing Reno. Harold with his insane flash ran it back from last week on pig defeating him and advancing to winners finals. Smarr then took on Reno and again found a way to put his boot on Batman and Batgirl to win and advance as well.
In winners finals Harold dismantled Smarr for 3 straight games making Black Adam look like he was getting ruled instead of being the dictator. That would mark the second time in 2 weeks that Smarr would fall victim to Harold's Flash 3-0. In losers, Saltface battled his way back all the way to beat Reno while Pig removed Goomba to advace into the top 4.
In a runback from CEO, Pig decided to use his Sinestro to show Harley how annoying the projectile war can become. Pig showed extremely powerful zoning and defensive play to beat Saltface and advance tot he losers finals to face Smarr.
Losers finals brought about match that Smarr had been wishing for. Last week, during a challenge match, Pig 5-0'd Smarr to send him into a downward spiral of shame. Smarr, looking for revenge, was ready to go in with his Adam back in top form. The results were not in the favor of Smarr however as pig took a decisive 3-0 victory with close wins over Black Adam and a destruction of Smarr's pocket Kal-el.
Pig of the Hut had reached back to harold to mirror the top 2 of the first Atlanta Kombat Arena. This time however, pig was in losers facing a large road ahead to reset the bracket. After some very gritty play, and some amazing comebacks from each player, Harold would not be denied his victory taking it over Pig's Zod/Sinestro combo. A special shoutout to Harold for tonight was also his birthday and celebrations were in order along with his victory. Congrats to Harold and the rest of the competitors on another great tournament.
