Petition for 3/5 for injustice

How about you guys learn to tighten up your play before saying "THIS GAME NEEDZ 3/5"?

This is the problem with a lot of you guys. Too much whining. Not enough leveling. And don't go there with the "another GET BETTER [ban incoming]!".

so you assume that no's game is "tight" and that everyone whines about 2/3? were not talking about scorpion, and i am definitely not complaining, am trying to make our scene grow, more players come to tournaments when there chances of winning are greater, that means that 3/5 gives the ability to comeback, and to get more tournament at the same time, i don't see how this is bad, especially when games in injustice go fast, and will continue to go fast as people "level up"

as for the more leveling up argument, dude you are at a tournament. You have so much time to play casuals to level up. you have money matches to get both players into the "play for keeps" mentality. It's not as easy as doing 3/5 because it could possibly be better for players. There are dozens of other considerations that have been brought up MANY times already that explain why 2/3 is the standard.

And maybe slow learners isn't quite accurate, it might be more appropriate to say that NRS players do not put in the work required to truly become good. Probably a better argument.

Game is so boring to watch, so 2/3 is more than enough.

No, watching the same small handful of characters fight over and over is what's boring. Watching people using other characters like Chris G and Blind Ducky was incredibly entertaining.

yeah understand 2/3, and casuals and tournament are not the same when getting exp, trust me, for some reason in casuals i just wreck people, i played a lot of casuals at ect5. but when it came to tournament i got so nervous, and i personally just wished it was 3/5 so i can get just that little extra exp under nerves, try to make the comeback etc. knowing that there are 3 games to lose also makes it so that if you lose first its not such huge pressure since you won't be eliminated/sent into losers. like i said again though this game goes fast, and once i go to my next tournament and i touch you first round, your already looking at you second life bar in 10 seconds, the flash is scary and does insane damage. so can you answer me this ? why is marvel 3/5? why can't an NRS game be 3/5?

If the top 8 or top 16 was not so consistently filled with the same players I could see the argument of 3/5 but it seems pretty consistent so you can only assume the 2/3 isn't screwing people out of placement.

MK can't be 3/5 because the game is *probably* not going to be a main game at tournaments anymore due to low entry numbers. Well, i mean, I guess it could if it's a side game but who cares at that point.

and zyphox if tourney nerves are still a problem for you sounds like you need to challenge more people to money matches. those will get you even more on edge than tourney because you have $20+ on the line right then and there. You gotta talk some shit to people so you can have those hype matches and again gain experience in those situations. What happens when you're playing some 6'5" 250 pound loud asshole that yells and talks shit at you the whole time you're playing him? What happens when CORN is screaming in your ear to eat dicks mid-game? You're gonna be on tilt unless you have dealt with the situation before. making a tournament 3/5 doesn't help you with that problem.... but money matches do

The reason top 8 went so fast is because Superman's combos quickly push the opponent towards corner, where he does 70+%. Nerf Supes' damage, then let's see how quickly it goes. If it still goes too fast, make it best 3 out of 5.

I see some people here can't give opinions without being so rude and immediately disregarding this idea.

Overall, I think all fighting games should be best out of 5 as it allows players to adapt to playstyles. Games like SC and Tekken which have 3 out 5 ROUNDS are generally ran on 3 out of 5 MATCHES.

A con for 3/5 is that tournaments are now 50% longer. If it takes 8 hours to run through all the pools of a tournament, TOs now have to plan for 12. I could go on but this is more of a question for somebody like 9.95 than myself. Basically a lot of things can go wrong from a bracket runner's perspective which actually harms player experience more than it helps it. People have to wait longer between games, they wander off, get DQ'd. Tournament runs super long because 3/5 took longer than expected, a hundred people are now fucked because the tournament is running past midnight. What if the venue won't let you run that late? They can shut you down and now all of a sudden you are behind in the brackets and have to somehow make that up the next day, assuming there is a next day and that's even possible. It's really possible for an entire event to be ruined because 3/5 didn't work. There is too much variability in the game right now because the level of play is too low right now, so nobody can reliably predict how much longer 3/5 will take. yet.

i can understand this argument for MK9, but injustice plays out fast, have you been to an injustice tourney this year? pools finished really early, and during pools half the people were playing casuals at ect5, that was in may......tekken plays 3/5 rounds with 3/5 games, they don't have that problem. like i said injustice will only level up and games will i guarantee in a month finish really fast. i think injustice's future lies on 3/5 IMO. but different strokes for different folks i guess.

no majors for injustice, but ive been to plenty of locals and we had a tournament with players like playing to win, forever king, m2dave, master d, etc... i cant really comment on tourney times from that because it was super small and all matches were being played on stream, plus i had to leave early. But I have been to 3 majors for MK and many regionals. I have also run a single tournament so I'm not 100% clueless about it... only like 90%... but i'm not trying to say i'm opposed to 3/5. Everyone wants it to be 3/5 if it reasonably can be. TOs are just not sure if the game can be reasonably played 3/5 yet.

The problem with this discussion isn't that you want 3/5... it's how you are going about it. You shouldn't be arguing we need 3/5 because it's better for the players, you should be instead working with TOs and trying to figure out how we can make 3/5 happen logistically. imo

it doesn't matter how much players demand it if TOs aren't able to provide it lol
