I've been wondering who the inevitable protagonist was going to be in the game for a while now and, prior to the trailer release, I was leaning towards Kotal Kahn or Takeda because of the comic. However, after that badass new trailer I think it's Cassie and team Special Forces with Cassie leading the pack. What do you guys think?

I agree. Seems to heavily indicate Cassie as the main heroine if not another member of Special Forces

Would make sense TBH. If MK9 was a "send off" or throwback to the old school Mortal Kombat games it sorta makes sense for this to focus on the next generation.

Might not seem like a big deal but, this would mark the first time in the series that the lead protagonist was a woman. I really expected it to be Takeda. Cool on NRS.

I do have to commend NR on the fact that the main guys are a girl, a black girl, and two Asian guys... And the bad guys are a crazy chick's and various colored odd races... Who would have thought MK breaking barriers n shit...

Trailer faith is dangerous. If MK9 and Injustice's story trailers are any indication, these trailers are just barely indicative of what is actually going to transpire. For all we know, Cassie's going to get killed by the end of this.

MK9: They told us it was a reboot, not that Raiden blows it for 4 hours and the good guys basically lose?

Injustice: They told us Joker got killed and Superman went off the deep end, never once mentioned that heroes from another universe come and fix the whole thing.
