Lots of new Fighters on the horizon kiddies. I have some days off work because of surgery so I bring you my judgements on some of the potential of 2015 and invite you to discuss and make bold predictions which I may approve or ignore.
Bear with me as pain meds are a novel thing

One note: Other people may bring it up but I honestly don't care to get into SFV and Smash. They have no shortage of supporters and promotion, overall I would prefer to show love to the games I have a vested interest in. Join me in comparing the games, your expectations, concerns and hopes. With the increase in streams and events how bright will the future become?

Initially here I am going to talk about my feelings on the roster reveals as this imo greatly affects the largest market of consumers for these games. Eventually I will get around to mentioning my experience with the scene and communities and what interaction I have had in tournaments.


Primary Interests: These games I am auto-buying and I accept that they might not share my exact vision for the franchise and its evolution

MKX(shocking I know)

• First off, the presentation of the reveal trailers for MKX has been top notch. I literally have customers walking into my kennel bringing up characters and fatalities(Bug lady looks sweet! He sliced his face off! and did you see him force that sword into the dude's mouth?) NRS marketing has been truly impressive. I think the switch between the facebook poll fights for Injustice to what they are doing with MKX, new characters and the quotes hinting at story has really been great, specifically everyone's beef with Quan Chi. And they have you nerds actively promoting for them by battling over which Subzero it is! I love it!
• No one can say they aren't looking forward to what Kitana's varitaions are and I've always detested that bitch. Stoked for old Kung Lao and people are coming out of the woodwork presuming unblockable shenanigans with his hat variants
• Lets talk about Reptile: Everyones least favorite trailer that didn't involve shitty rap lyrics. I don't think there was anything wrong with his redesign just that his moveset looks very familiar. We shall see once his variations are revealed and @tylerlansdown gets freed up next stream
• Ermac looks so fucking awesome. He actually reminds me of his Legacy incarnation, though I do hope we get to see that Scarecrow-esque costume. I have alot of hopes about how he will come together overall because I feel like his variations are some of the most differing we know about thus far.
• Truly interested in the new characters and what playstyles they will have to offer but as a Mileena main in every game shes been in I will expect her next month. I would be shocked if we don't see one or two females in Feb. for all the dateless Kombat Kave dwellers. I hold out for Mileena and Tanya, though I would love so much for Skarlet and Frost to return as well, perhaps as dlc.
• Current revealed roster as of Jan30: Scorpion, Subzero, D'Vorah, Ferra/Torr, Kotal Khan, Cassie Cage, Raiden, Kano, Quan Chi, Ermac, Kung Lao, Kitana, Reptile, Goro

Tekken 7

• So this game has me a bit worried with the addition of new gameplay mechanics that will doubtless piss me off however I am in for the long haul, TTT1 was the first game I travelled to tournaments for and I have suffered through T6 bc I had faith Tag2 was coming which realized the system in my opinion.
• The character reveals for T7 almost exactly the opposite of MKX. We have seen screen stills and location test footage and the Tekken Crash exhibition and a stellar story trailer proclaiming the culmination of the Mishima saga
• Currently revealed are: Bryan, Feng, Claudio, Heihachi, Kazuya, Dragonuv, Katarina, Lars, Leo, King, Law, Paul, Steve, Asuka, Lili, Alisa, Xiaoyu, Lucky Chloe, Hwoarang, Shaheen
• A current qualm I have is that none of the Femme Fatale type characters have been shown and yet every schoolgirl character has made it into the game where the roster will be drastically shortened from tag 2. I remain hopeful for Jun, the Williams sisters, Zafina, those silly Indians with their kungfu w/ puroresu throws and fully expect Jin, Jinpachi, Yoshimitsu, Heihachi's wife and Eliza to be in at least the final console version. Zilch chance they developed an vampire bitch who breasts expand and polled her just to not use her in the next game

Additional Games I am following Closely:

Killer Instinct

• Xbone exclusive launches with system and in what appears to be an effort to slap people who have sent letters, signed petitions and what all since MS's acquirement of Rare pushes as a freetoplay model. I hate this model, it and the terribad design of the xbone controller ARE THE REASONS I HAVE NOT GOTTEN THIS GAME. I understand its continuing support but I cannot develop a gameplan with a character and find out next month it doesn't apply or a new team has taken over and drastically altered the function of my main. I don't mean to harp on this, I know its been hashed out before but this is my topic, you get to read how I feel on the subject. Other games such as Tekken Revolution/ Soul Calibur Lost Swords/ and Dead or Alive Core Fighters have come out with their own blend of what I think are better approaches to the freetoplay model.
• The end of Season 2 will be make or break for me based on the roster and other implementations. I was finally going to allow myself to be sold on KI when Fulgore was released only to have his base design altered substantially and IG then reevaluating the whole system. At least to me it appeared that Sadira won evo and the entire game was changed, air breakers/ recaptures etc to cope against her. Additionally it seems she got Great-Scorpion-Scare-esque nerfs. Thats a little scary. Scary enough that I hear the community doesn't want to play long sets and hides unbreakables and tech from eachother and IG. That concerns me as to the games longevity as does running on Windows 8 ui
• Enough bitching though, @RM GamerBlake could perhaps enlighten me that these hangups are unfounded on my part. Kan-Ra looks to be my cup of tea and I have been endeavoring to watch streams and see how this character's unique concept can be realized while at the same time trying not to get as married to things as I initially wanted to do with Sadira and Fulgore who no longer exist as I initially expected to play them.
• The Roster has expanded from the season 1 cast of Jago, Sabrewulf, Sadira, Glacius Orchid, Thunder, Spinal, Fulgore to include Season 2 Combo, Maya, Riptor, Kan-Ra and will be seeing Golem, Ghostgirl, and Cinder are all confirmed to be in.
• Then the question becomes when season 2 completes will there be as big a shakeup going into season 3? Will MS decide they like changing up the team and move on to someone besides IG? The future seems a little uncertain to me, however I am loving what I am seeing from the Ultraarcade guys and honestly its their support for the game that gives me the most hope for its future overall

Dead or Alive Last Round

• Yup that game. Ninjas, Commandos, Wrestlers and Kungfu practioners with some of the coolest environments you've seen and the ability to knock someone into an exploding wall only to pop them up into a midscreen juggle into super, its sick and I can't get enough of it.
• DOA's community is actually very similar to MKs imo, they have been held back by FGC politics for one reason or the other have a large online scene but developing tournament scene especially since DOA5 first launched. I had the privledge to meet, speak to, and eat with Tom Lee the game's Director and have alot of respect for this guy. The man spent a ton of time travelling to support his game, provide pot bonuses and make TFC a huge event for "his fighters" The game will be at EVO despite not being a "main game" and hopefully previous issues will be remedied, last year our own @SonicFox5000 's victory was sadly unrecorded.
• DOA5 LR will include the roster of Ultimate up to now including all DLC and at least one new female combatant and a former boss character the evil cyborg ninja Raidou who has a penchant for stealing other fighters techniques.
