Would you take a bad version of your favorite character if it meant he was guaranteed?

I was wondering about this just now. If you could guarantee that your favorite character was in MKX would you take a lesser version of him? Would you rather risk that he/she might not be in the game, but if they are they're a top 10 character?

This doesn't really apply to me since Quan was just confirmed, but I was wondering about what the rest of you thought.

As long as the core gameplay of the character was similar to previous incarnations, yes. If not I would think it depressing that the character I loved was garbage AND played like someone else.

Day 1 bane bad? Or modern green arrow bad? Or modern Kano bad? The difference is staggering. For tue bane and kano scenarios yes. For the green arrow scenario, nah he can make the next game.

This is some retarded logic here.

Why would they make a character weak?
Why would they think about putting a character in only if they were weak?
He's asking you to weigh the pros and cons of having your favorite character in for sure at the risk of him/her possibly being bad or risk them not being in at all at the expense of you
Not having to endure them being awful in the game.

If by weak you mean tier wise, a shitty character for tournaments etc. I would give no fucks. Not really a competitive player.

If you mean like the character is super shitty design and story wise, then I guess it'd depend how bad it is.

MK9 made stupid one note characters like Jade and Stryker into pretty legit members of the cast, I don't think we have to worry about this. THey aren't going to pick a character they don't have some good ideas for.
